Hello All,

As I am very new to this group and have not yet had time to check all the previous posts, please excuse me if I am asking something that has been discussed before.

I am new to playing Texas Hold'em. I have been playing for only about 4 months now. I play in both B & M ($4-$8 limit so far) and online at Party Poker (trying for the cruise tomorrow, wish me luck!) and am doing everything that I can to improve my game. So far I have read 2 of Sklansky's books, 1 of Lou Krieger's, and have gone to Mike Caro's site and listened to all of his adios.

I just today found out about pokerschool.com and was wondering if any of you have have any experience with it. I would like to know more about it if possible before I just sign up for the $14.95 a month. For those of you that do subscribe to the service, do you feel it has improved your game? Do you feel it is worth the $.

Also, if any of you can point me to other sites, or books that can help me keep improving my game I would be very appreciative! I have fallen in love with the game in the short time I have been playing and would like to keep improving, especially in tournament play. I do enjoy table play, but tourny's to me are the biggest thrill! (I have played in 2 local tournys so far and managed to finish 5th in the last one) my goal is to someday feel I am good enough to play in some of the bigger tourny's (or at least the satellites to get into one)!

Any help pointing me in the right direction to continue my poker education would be MUCH apprciated!

Thank in Advance!

Gary

I have been with the site since July and it has really improved my play A LOT. But you have to use the site correctly, there are still maniacs and fish on that site that do not understand the entire concept of it so you have to play it cool and you will be fine.

Here are my suggestions if you do join:

1. Play, play, play, play, play. And then play soome more

2. Be very wary of your bankroll, you can only refill it once every 24 hours so treat it like real money.

3. Try your best to get into one of the $500 NLHE tourneys. Once you get through the first half and weed some people out you will have some pretty tough competition IMO

4. Play, play, play, play, play. :-)

5. If you need to get your bankroll up some check out the Pot Limit Ring game, it is usually good for a couple real big hands a sitting.

6. Do the lessons and read the forums. If you have a question about a hand and you want it analyzed write down the table # and the hand # and post it in the forum designated for that

7. Play, play, play, play, play.

8. Chat with the other players and be very open to constructive criticism - do not be defensive.

I made a really bonehead move in a tourney awhile back where I called a huge raise with Ks 5s and I pulled out a straight. Dude went off on me, I defended myself and then he went out a few hands later. I started chatting with some of the other players, they asked me what my thought process/logic was. They told me it was flawed :-) and then they began to ask me some questions. They comended me for not being all defensive and for not being a jerk and the next thing I know they were giving me all kinds of pointers and help. See my post today titled "NLHE Tourneys - Never Limp In?? What about Final Table?, jdavidk, today 07:42" that is from PSO and "Please List your Tips and Tricks - Player Notes, jdavidk, today 06:27 " that is as well

Hope that helps. If you have more specific questions let me know and I will try and adress them
