Here's a situation for all of you tournament players.

There are 4 of us left. I am 3rd in chips with about 20k on the button. The chip leader is in the small blind with about 125k. The big blind has about 8k left. The blinds are 3k-6k. I'm already in the money, now I am trying to move up and win the whole thing.

I have Kh5h. I am pretty sure that the big blind is going to go all-in no matter what he holds. I figure that I am probably a slight favorite over him since it would essentially be a random hand. The problem is that I do not want the small blind in. He could easily afford to call any raise that I make. The only raise I would make in this spot would be all-in and I don't want to go all-in with K5 so I fold.

The small blind calls, big blind raises all-in, small blind calls. BB wins the hand with a pair of 4's (actually, both players had a pair of 4's with the BB having a better kicker). I would have flopped a K and caught two pair on the river to not only win the hand but move up a spot in the money. ( I ended up going out a couple of hands later when my Q got beat by a better Q.)

Would anyone have moved all-in in that spot?

PS. Going back to my AA post. With about 17 players left, I was down to about 6k. One player raised, it was reraised the pot. I reraised all-in. They both called with JJ and QQ respectively and I won a big pot that took me to the final table. Although not quite the same situation as my post, I listened to you.

Not a hand I would go allin on. Especially if the SB calls and the BB folds to see if you can get beat this hand. You might lose a place and some money.

I know your goal was to win, but with only a little more than 3 big bets left, waiting until there was only three of you I think was the wise decision.

I think that might have been a good move to raise, without the SB being the big stack. However, you know that if the big stack has anything reasonable he will probably call, so you did right to fold.

I was in a similar situation in a tourney recently where I had JTs and the small stack was in the BB, and just a medium stack in the SB who didn't look to happy with his hand. Anyway, here the raise worked perfectly because I knew the BB would call with just about any two. If the SB had a bunch of chips, I wouldn't be in there with JT.

In my opinion folding was the right thing to do. Any time an opponent gets eliminated you make money. Why gamble against two random hands when you can let them go after eachother? Don't let the results of the hand make you worry about your decision.

I think that is why I questioned my decision. I know I would have won had I entered. I could look back on a number of hands in this tournament and say I would have folded if I knew I wasn't going to win the hand.

No way do I move in there. Even if the BB wins the hand you will still be ahead of him in chips (20-16k) and he would blind off before you. However, moving in against the big stack is always dangerous and if comes over the top of you, then what do you do?

K5h is not strong enough to risk being put to the decision for all your chips (which the SB, if smart and with a half decent hand) might do.
