| I was playing in a $50 sit n go on UB, 10 player tourney last night.....5 players left I was the chip leader about 4500 chips....... I was playing really tight. I only played four hands so far and won all four of them. Im in the BB and got dealt 76s, MP calls everyone else folds, I check to see the flop. Flop comes: 7,6,3 rainbow MP goes all in. Note: ((This player was shortstacked 4 hands ago with only 300 chips, Hes been goin all in the past 4 hands. Won four of them has about 2500 in chips. His last allin wasnt called. Three times his all in was called by players having the better hand, but this guy pulled cards on the turn and river. )) Back to my hand. He called me all in for around 2500 chips. I folded and showed my two pair. He showed me his K9o. Id wanted to know if people agree with my fold. I knew I had him beat, but didnt want to risk my chips. Anyway, This guy ended up taking 2nd place, I finished 3rd. Im kinda annoyed cause I could have taken him out when I had the chance. | ||

| That is a universally stupid fold. What more do you want than to flop 2 top two pair and have a maniacal player bet all in at you when you are almost certain he doesn't have a set? You're a giant favourite over most of the hands he could have. Call there without hesitation. If he shows you 33 it sucks, but when he shows you K9 do you have any idea how thin he is drawing? If you play that rockishly, you're toast, my friend. Especially when the tourney is shorthanded like that. You layed down a monster for no good reason and for that play you deserved 3rd place. | ||

| I agree, I would have called in a heartbeat. Odds are very good that you have the best hand, and odds are very good that he has about a 1 in 10 or worse chance of beating you. Even aces don't hold up 9 out of 10, but you wouldn't hesitate to put your money in before the flop with them, would you? On top of that, don't show your hand. If you show him that you folded top 2 pair on a board like that, he's going to bluff all over you. You must have a very good reason to ever show a hand, and if you think your reason might not be good enough, it probably isn't. Don't give the way you play to anyone who isn't willing to pay for it. | dont take this the wrong way but when you checked to see the flop what were you hoping for? You got 2-pair, you were heads up against a very aggressive player. As I was reading your post I put him on an Ace, Ten. You need to ask yourself this question if I am not going to call heads up with 2 pair when no overcards are on the board what are you going to call with??? You came in third and you probably should have came in 1st or 2nd, so you need to move on now.... Keep in mind this peson was not betting that he had something, he was betting that you did not have any part of the flop..... | ||

| I figured he had High card with a low kicker that was paired on the flop. I know I should have called. But I didnt want to see him hit a card and give him the chip lead. | ||

| If he has something like A3 or K3, you're a 3 to 1 favorite to win. If he has something like A7 or A6, then you're about a 10 to 1 favorite. It sounds as though you are having some trouble understanding the odds on all in situations. I'd suggest you go to prock.freeshell.org/ and download pokerstove. Play around with it, get a feel for who has the advantage and by how much in common situations. If you aren't able to recognize a potential 3:1 or 10:1 situation and aren't willing to put a lot of chips in when you do get it, I'd stop playing tournaments for a while. Lee | ||

| Hmm it doesn't work. I haven't been there in a while, it's just on my bookmarks. Run a search for pokerstove, maybe it'll turn up someplace else. Otherwise, there are other hand evaluators that you can use. Search around and I'm sure you'll find something you like. Lee | ||

| With that flop, I think you have to call. You can be at least 80% sure you have the best hand now, and you have four outs to a full, plus you know this guy has been out-of-line, so you don't necessarily put him on a set. | ||

| Your situation speaks to something that has been observed by quite a few poker experts - To wit, loose-aggressive players tend to do better in tournament games than ring games - I think primarily beacuse we all tend to play tight in tournament games (particularly early) They bust out a lot, but will win more tournaments than tight players will. You have to chose your poison........... | ||
