| Last night I was playing at a local cardroom. I was playing and then sits down next to me an amazingly beautiful young lady. Actually one of the more attractive woman I have come across in quite some time. And the fact she liked poker made it all that much better. We talk and banter a little while the game is going. We were both pretty much people watching the other players, picking up tells, talking about places we played, bad beats, etc. After a couple of hours (and we were both doing well) she suggested maybe we need to get together outside the cardroom and I said yea, sure. (well actually I was thinking heck yes, but didn't want to seem to eager). Well then this hand comes along. I have pocket Qs, she it turned out had Big Slick. There were a couple others in the pot. Flop came done A-Q-5 rainbow. We bet, a couple raises all fromt he other players in the pot (A couple of real maniacs that would never fold and raise with anything, even just draws). Turn is an Ace - completes the rainbow). I check to her she bets, maniacs raise, I call. River a 5. I check, she bets, one of the maniacs for once folds, other just calls, I raise, she reraises and I reraise again. She has the set, I have the boat. I loose the date as she calls me mean names. The consultation was that it was a pretty decent pot. Some of my friends that don't play poker said I was a fool for not dumping that pot, but then again, they don't play poker....... | ||

| well, you probably don't want to be with someone who gets all bent over one stupid pot anyway. can you say "high maintenance"??? | ||

| You could have easily just smirked and said "if you wanted to pay for the date, you should have just said so......" (and then prepared to be slapped) Great story, but you messed it up (if I'm reading it right) If she had A-K, and the board came A-Q-5-A-5, she had a boat also. on 3. | maybe she took that as sarcastic. If you'd worded it like "Dinner's on me" or something like that, maybe she wouldn't have gone off. Personally, I think she must have a thin skin to react that way, and you are better off, even if she was hot. | ||

| First of all, you got the money; you don't need the woman. Secondly a woman who gets mad at a hand like that isn't worth being with. Not only did you outplay her, but she played like a total fish. What does she think you're holding when you raise the river in a hand like that? Does she seriously think that her single aceis good? You could have any ace and have hit your kicker or any set. 3-betting there is just universally stupid. Be glad you didn't get a date with her. Besides, how much money was in the pot? If it's just about a score, then I'm sure you could find a half decent professional with that pot and not have to worry about buying dinner. | ||

| we were playing 3-6-12 so the pot was pretty decent for that level around 150 | ||

| Crap, if a potential date has to be a good poker player on top of all the other qualifications she must meet, I don't think I'm ever gonna get laid again! After she yelled at me, I'd ask her if we were still on for the weekend. Might as well have fun with her if you can't have fun with her. ;) Lee | ||

| Yeah, but I couldn't imagine the horror of dating a shizzitty poker player who would play like that. (Perhaps Wren knows what it is like) :) | ||

| My personal fave: tell a woman that you'll call her, then don't. Like if she flops an obvious monster and is betting like a machine and you are calling and drawing, on the turn make sure to say "If you bet, I'll call", then when you miss your flush on the river and she bets, don't call her. Waive down a cocktail waitress or call your buddy Tony on your cell phone instead. Or when you do make your flush, raise. Can you say win-win? | A few notables: I don't like it when women call me a loser. I feel like I tried something.. so I'm not a loser, I'm a failure; Hitting on lesbians is a lot like hitting golf balls at a driving range. It's good practice and there's no pressure; If you're drunk enough, and your teeth are sharp enough, all panties are edible. Not exactly relevant to the post, but funny none the less........ | ||
