| I started playing on Poker Stars and Paradise Poker a few months ago and I haven't really done that good. From what I saw, Doyle's book is the bible and I'm waiting to make another deposit until I read through the book. Just wondering how important this book is. Also regarding Poker Stars, is there a better place to play? I liked all the big tournaments there, but it just seemed like the river card was always unbelieveable, almost 60% of the time. I'm thinking that when someone hits a good card, they bet big, which PS gets a bigger rake, then they get more money. I don't want to play at a place like that, so I moved to Paradise Poker where the cards seem to me more realistic. Thanks I'm a noobie. | ||

| BokBok just some food for thought but it seems to me that Poker Stars and Paradise Poker are affiliated with eachother because Poker Stars runs off a Paradise Poker server so I'm suspecting they do the same thing. But im not completely sure. You can check the network when your connecting to Poker Stars or when you have logged in just for clarification Or you can email support | ||

So where does everyone go to on here? Is there one site where everyone agrees is better than the other? I see Ultimate Bet on here a lot, but I heard they've had some problems. Also, how do people get paid? I finally got a check back from Party Poker, and Poker Stars has taken a good 2 weeks. Say I deposit $100 with my Visa, is there a way for them to deposit it back going that same way? | ||

| Super System was/is the Bible. However, you must remember that it was written in the late 70's, and the game has evolved quite a bit since then, thanks to the PC and software such as Wilson's Turbo Hold-Em, the sheer popularity of the game, which has been brought about by on-line poker rooms and the WPT, not to mention televising of the WSOP, etc. I do not think your experience at one site indicates anything more than just a perceived run of "river-itis." All of us get beaten on the river by some clown who probably had inferior cards to start, but picked up a draw on the flop or turn, and then might have actually had the correct pot odds to call til the river. | Brunson's book is good, but a bit old and a bit advanced. If you're having trouble beating the game online there are two things you need to do. First, get a more beginner book like Lee Jones' Winning Low Limit Hold'em. Then play at the small limits. If you play online in a 1-2 game with a full understanding of Jones, you'll be a positive player. If you play 10-20 online you won't be able to beat the game until you are an expert player. | ||

| I really trhink that all the Internet Poker games are controlled and regulated by them to keep ALL of their players happy. Ever heard of "Fringe Benifits' ? If you work in or have a good friend who works in a ice cream factory...you will get some free ice cream on a regular basis. Just don't back a truck up and load it. Yes there are people at Poker Stars who can see all of the hole cards, know the three cards coming in the flop, and know the turn and river cards! You will hear..." do you think we would risk losing a million dollar business to cheat? I have been playing poker all my life (which is a long time) and I have been playing on the Internet for 5 or 6 years. When I started at Poker Stars I used the one thousand dollar play money to get used to the functions and all that. In about 5 months I had won almost 2 million dollars in play money. I have been playing for real money now for about 6 months...and im about even!! You do the math. | ||

| the people in the play-money rooms are there for a reason. if you go all-in, 7 people will sometimes call you. it's not real, so what do they care? those rooms hurt your game more than they help it. | ||

| You can't go wrong with Super System; however, there are books more suited to your level and the loose games you are likely to play in. Gary Carson's "Complete Book of Hold'em" is really good as is Lee Jones "Winning Low Limit Hold'em". The limit poker section of Super System is really good, but it's more how to beat the game against other tough players. | ||
