| I just thought I'd shamelessly and immodestly say something because I'm so damn happy- I won (sort of) my first tournament today, limit HE at Hollywood Park. Made it to the final table (out of 19), got down to the final 6 before we made a deal. I had always thought I wouldn't be the type to make deals, but pragmatism set in when faced with $1100 instead of a possible $340 for 6th place, and we were at the point where the blinds alone would put me (and most of us) all in. I want to thank those that have offered me advice. This was my ninth or tenth tournament so I'm glad I finally ended one, I was getting antsy. A few things that I feel I can point to that made this one more successful: 1. catching good cards, duh 2. jumping out to an early lead, having some momentum after the first break. Gave me a chance to tighten up without blinding down too much. 3. tightening up, staying away from Ax and anything else that might trap me 4. more adherence to the gap concept, and the idea of looking for excuses to not play hands rather than the other way around Thanks for indulging me, Eli | ||

| Congratulations! Nice feeling to beat out so many others and look around at the faces of the final table. Do it again now, and the feeling gets even better, because you can tell yourself that the first one may have not been just a fluke. Maybe I am a good card player? I was good enuff to win against all them werent I? Its really a nice feeling that a worthless wreck could actually be good at something, yes? Anyways those were my thoughts LOL. Yep, life is good. | ||

| Congrats, Eli! Some guys were trying to get me to play in that but I had to work tonight so I opted not to. But I'm glad you did so well! Maybe I'll catch you at the tables there someday. :) | ||

| Congrats. Though if I were at a 6 handed go and 5 players wanted to make a deal, I'd figure myself to have a huge edge and play with verve and gusto...unless I was the small stack in which case I'd still only take a very favourable deal. | ||
