Party or UB, JaggedEj, 31. Aug 2003 08:48

I've just decided to sign up for online poker and would like to know what people think is the better given the current conditions.
I'm somewhat of a beginner. I think I might be better at NL SitNGos than LLHE but I'm not sure yet.
From what I've heard Party has more tables and more fish,
but UB has the better software and better deposit bonus.

What do people think?

I have not spent a lot of time at UB yet, but spent lots of time at Partypoker. My feel has always been that PartyPoker has more "regular" amateur players and lots of them ***grin***. Currently there is a "huge" 50% sign-in bonus from UB (I think it is still on, please confirm) which you should take advantage of. Try UB with the bonus for a few months, then switch to the other for a few months. You will know the one you will like. Good luck, good games, and let UPF hear about your success!

You're dead on, Flint. The general consensus seems to be that PP is fishier than UB, but I think it's very tough to generalize. UB's bonus deal (on for another week), means effectively that UB pays you about .75BB/hr to play (The precise payout amount will vary according to the limit you play, of course).

With that kind of subsidy, it's difficult to imagine playing anywhere else!

Jagged,

Well I started on UB and generally prefer it, but once I was up enough on UB and they started having problems, I moved some of the money over to PP. So I now I have accounts at both, but I just like UB more. If you play well, you'll profit at either.

I've played at party for a while and recently bought into UB as well. There's more games at party and they are generally softer as well, but UB has lower limits and currently the huge deposit bonus. Also they have kill and half kill games if you like things like that. The games seem to move a little faster at UB too.

Jagged Dont waste your time with either ultimate bets point program is a complete rip and party has just way to many people and is the worst site in the world i prefer poker stars they have the best support around and the best competition no use playing with ameatures it maybe a easy buck but in the long run in may payoff to play with better players

I don't want to play with better players. I want to make some additional income.

I started at UB & have gotten away from them and now play only at party poker. If anything I think there were more wild and crazy players at UB. Pocket Aces would seldom hold up for a win at UB> It seemed that every time I had a good pocket hand it would get beat. A general consesus of players at the low limit tables I was at was that the software at UB was set up that way for the low limit games. I don't know if that was true or not but I find the games play much more realistic at Party Poker.

It pays off because If this player is a very serious player they will get better experience and wont develop bad playing habits playing with bad players who push all the way to the river card and eventually out draw u this is just what I have heard from a few people who write and respond on the forum.

It's important to develop a bankroll before you start playing with the big boys.
I'm aware that you play significantly different with LL maniacs than you do with High Limit Pros.

Anyway, I'm going to go with UB for now

I like UB and right now they have a big deposit bonus on, so I'd go with that.
