Super-loose player…, Xefe5, 30. Aug 2003 21:27 | ||

| In my regular game there is a player who is EXTREMELY loose. We play tournament style and I usually end up heads up with him. The problem is I am a tight-aggressive player, and he puts me on tilt almost every time we play heads up. When I catch cards I beat him fast (check-raising and trapping), but when I don’t I go crazy. He is impossible to bluff out of a pot (he always calls with anything) and he always tries to steal the pot on fourth-street. I have a good read on when he is strong or weak, except he thinks Q-high is a strong hand heads-up. I constantly find myself folding fourth and fifth pair, then going on tilt and playing garbage for the rest of the session. Any advice on playing the crazy loose type??? | ||

| First, invite me to this game. Second, keep yourself under control (don't know how to tell you how to not tilt other than to say "don't go on tilt"), keep playing solidly and you will beat him soundly. We should all be so lucky to have people like this in our games. Eli on 30. Aug 2003 21:27 Xefe5 wrote: > In my regular game there is a player who is EXTREMELY loose. | Heads up if you are a typical tight player with good starting hand requirments you are going to get killed against a loose player if you don't change your strategy. If he just bets every hand and you call less 55 percent he will profit. You have to call two out of three hands on average and reraise often. Call with any pair, any ace, any two cards nine or higher, any other straight or flush draws down to 54s. Kxs and some J8s, 98, 97. If you have anything reasonable don't fold on the flop. In other words you have to change gears when it gets down shorthanded or heads ups. I strongly reccomend S&Ms hold em poker for advanced players the section on shorthanded play payed for the book the first week that I had it. Remember he is getting the same trash that you are and if you played a million hands and both bet them all the way to the river every time it would be liking flipping a coin so if you fold or wait for the premium hands you are going to get worked. hope this helps and good luck, Don | ||
