| So despite getting virtually NO decent hands for the first six rounds, I managed to pull myself back from a short stack and make the final table with a decent stack. Thanks to you guys, I resisted my small pair and suited connector fetish (I love those hands in a loose ring game) on several occasions where it would have been inappropriate to play them. Anyway, I got to the last 3 in 2nd chip position, and although I thought I still had a very good chance of winning outright, the chip leader made a very good offer which we took. Besides, it was 11:30pm and I had to work the next day, so it was probably wise. The payday was nearly $1900 and my picture back up on the wall at the Oaks Cardroom in Emeryville CA. Anyway, I've improved greatly from the lively and always thoughtful poker debate on this forum and thank you all for all the care you put into posting here. UPF rules! BTW, those of you who do not have Cloutier & McEvoy's Championship Series, I can't recommend it highly enough. | ||

| Hey stdioh, Any luck in those Aruba Satellites? I finally broke down and bought a PC and plan on playing in some. How is the competition? Hope to see you there (preferably not at my table)! | ||

| Noise the aruba single table sattelites are nice and fishy. Out of the two entries in 11+1 buy ins I've won both fairly easily. Sure I caught some hands when I needed to but both were fairly easy wins. If you see me at the tables at UB say "hi" My UB Name is WindyCityJ. Good luck, See you in Aruba! LOL John | ||

| The aruba satellites are rigged!!!!!! Okay, just kidding. But I've had some bad luck in them. If I play an $11 one, I come in second. If I play a $22 one, I come in third. I finally broke down and played a $33 one, and come in 1st. Figures. When I played in the super satellite I busted out with Q,Q in bubble time. I looked back at the sattelites I played and the time I spent and figured I lost several hundred dollars in potential profit. (If I had just played regular sit n gos instead of the satellites). Oh well. I think it would be great to actually go and play in one of those big tournaments, but it's definately a drain on my bankroll trying to *win* my way in... | ||

| Yeah, my rule is that I try to only play tourneys with ring game winnings, so that it's a freeroll (not really, but I don't feel so bad when I don't win if I look at it that way). Come hell or high water, I wanna go to ARUBA!!!! | ||

| Heh. I kept bubbling into second in the $11+1 ... so then I played a $22+2 and came third. So then I played a $33+3 and came in ... ... ... 4th! Cry me a river :P | ||

| Exactly my experience...crazy. My last one I got "nusted" out in 4th place in a $22 one by a guy going all in against my KK (with Axs). I had limped in after everyone passed to me in the SB. He raised and I put him all in. He calls. I actually hit my set on the flop, but then he goes runner, runner for his flush. This is two places away from the money. He went on to place top two of course. I don't think Aruba is in the cards for me this year. Of course, I think I have already spent over $100 on buyins. Maybe after a good run I will just buyin for $100. Think of it this way - $100 for a trip to Aruba is a pretty good deal. | ||

| Don't even mention "aruba satelite" to me. I bubbled in some huge number of them ... 7? and didn't win a seat. I decided that if I wanted to play in a super I would just pony up the cash - I might do that. I've been slaughtering the PLO8 game on there lately. I'll play another one when I can buy into it for points, which should be soon, but I'm not going to spend more money on it now. Oh, incidentally I was playing in a NL cash game in Toronto a couple of weeks ago with Jim Worth (Krazy Kanuck) and we were talking about the supers. He's won 4 Aruba trips so far this year. | ||
