 Bad Beat-Lucky Catch-Or Good Play? (huge pot), Eric, 27. Aug 2003 10:42 | ||

| Last night I was playing on UB in a 10 person .25/.50 no limit table (this is large stakes for me). I sat down with $10 and was up to about $25 after waiting for some good hole cards and maximizing my profits. Ok, so i get dealth 10s Ks in the hole, there is a preflop raise of $1 and i call as well as 2 others. So there is a 4 way pot going on before the flop. The flop comes: Ad Qc Jd I flopped the straight, naturally I bet pot, which is about $9, one guy calls (which is all-in for him, he has about $8 left). Anouther guy calls and the SB goes all-in for about $45. This move perplexes me as I look at the board and realized I have the nuts *for the moment*, so I call going allin for $25 and the other caller folds. ..now the turn.... 6c... innocent enough, no harm done. ..the river...... 5d... okkk CRAP someone just luckily caught their flush draw. Sure enough SB flips QdKd and the other guy in the pot flips 9d 4d. Now I look at this as a bad beat because there were only 7 other diamonds in the deck after the flops IF no one had folded one preflop so I'd venture to say about 3 diamonds were in the deck, giving me the rest of the deck to complete my victory.. SO Bad Beat or Bad Play? | ||
