Tourney/SNG/Limit Choice In Profitability, jordanc79, 26. Aug 2003 16:14

Here's an interesting debate that hasn't seem to gotten much discussion on the board. People online play a whole variety of structures online, whether it be multi-table tournaments, sit and go's and standard limit play.

Let's say you have a typical low-limit bankroll, comfortable at 3-6 or so and good at tournament play. What types of "itinerary" would be best to achieve the most amount of profit?

I figure strictly playing limit would show the most consistent profit, but with the chances of making bigger paydays being a good tournament player. I know people that just enter tourneys and SNG's all days as well as some who never do at all.

In a related question...is it worth it to play cheaper 30+ satellites to get into high-limit 200+ tournaments or better to just play the tourneys at that level instead of trying to win the "big one." My logic usually leads me to the thought of "why bust my ass to place in this event just to have to do it again when it could give me a payout now".

Feedback would be greatly appreciated on how you like to split up your poker playing time online.

Sit & Go tournaments at the right game and price offer excellent earn / standard deviation ratio. At higher limits I think overall earn is the biggest consideration so maybe ring games are best.
