| Tomorrow I plan on playing my first NL tournament (not counting one satellite I played), I've decided to get my feet wet in NL. It's B&M, low buy in, multi-rebuys in first hour. I'm comfortable in limit ring games and tournaments, but are there any last minute pointers/tips/nuggets of wisdom anyone cares to offer about this one? Thanks Eli | ||

Every decision you make should be directed toward that goal. Survive and accumulate. A fold that keeps you from being eliminated has more value than a call that knocks you out. That does not mean play loose, but when you get a hand, play it aggressively. You will need some chips going into the the tourney after the first hour, because the blinds will increase very quickly in some tourney's.... Good Luck | ||

| The most important thing to remember when moving into a NL tournament is that Drawing Hands are DEATH!! Do not get caught up in calling bets with a drawing hand. You shouldn't even be doing it when you have pot odds. You either want to bet your draw, or fold it. And folding it is usually correct. Be very patient, and wait for good cards in good position. I think of a NL tournament as a mine field. If you are going to win it, you are going to have to dodge mine after mine. You can't ever quit looking for them, or one will blow you out of the tournament before you know what happened. Good Luck! | ||
