Quick question for you guys...

...Is there anyone here that is making a sustained profit at a 1/2 or 2/4 level. I have been in the last two weeks, but that is the last two weeks, and i have another 50 weeks to go before i can say I'm a profitable player.

My question comes becuase I've noticed so many players call pre-flop that it's almost a free-for-all to the river. I would love to try 5/10 or 10/20 sometime in the future, but right now my bankroll is only 2/4 deep.

So has anyone done well there over a long period of time?

Thanks guys..

Jon

If your bankroll is only 2/4 deep than going to 5/10 or 10/20 is a recipe for disaster. I know the problem you're facing with the fish, but you can work that to your advantage. That doesn't guarantee you'll be a consistently winning player, but you might be able to move up the limit ladder more slowly. That's what I've done, I started playing 2/4 about a year ago, and have worked up to 4/8 and 6/12 which is what I mostly play now. I've found that the amount of "no fold 'em" decreases a bit at each level, and I'm more comfortable playing 6/12 than any other level (this is all B&M, where 2/4 is the lowest limit).

So my advice- just keep working on making your game better and move up in levels (slowly) when you can afford to.

I started playing online last December and have been consistently beating the 1/2 and 2/4, first on Pacific and then on Party. It's hard to deal with some of the beats from the no fold'em players, but in time, you'll overcome it. Try to stay neutral when someone cracks your hands with something that you wouldn't even consider playing from the small blind. It's very good that you are maintaining an adequate bankroll and I wouldn't consider moving up until you feel confident you can beat the new game and have enough to play. Good luck!
