I was recently playing an 8/16 online game and the following hand came up that caused much debate between me and some of my poker friends..

I have AK early position and raise 2 late position players call and the small blind calls. The players are fairly loose. The flop comes KQQddc small blind checks, I bet and get called by all 3 players. The turn brings an uneventful card I cant remember but for arguments sake lets say a 3h (it was something like this 2 3 4 5 6 7) now heres where our debate kicks off. I checked and my friend was adament a bet was correct. I have some reasons for the check that I will post later in the thread but will withold my reasons both for and against the bet and check to not influence the opinions of the posters. I played a little bit with Mark in the 30/60 at the bellagio and would be very interested in his opinion.

BigJimm although I understand your reason for checking you still need to bet this hand on the turn UNLESS you intended on check folding here and I doubt that would have been your action. The board offers way too many draws to allow for a check by you. If you get raised you can make your decision whether you pay it off. Put the heat on your opponents here!!!! You have a hand so if they can beat you make them speak up. You will earn nothing on this hand from all those players drawing at you if you pass the turn betting and you will always get paid by a weaker king. You can't allow your opponents this "bonus" when they are drawing. If you get popped on the turn you may have to lay it down. Accept the fact that you will have to lay down hands. You can't pay them all off and be a solid winner. Just a thought. GRANT PITTMAN

My actual thinking wasnt to check fold but more that someone would bet my hand for me behind and thus I could now be afforded the luxury of acting after the other players. I could then lay down my hand to a raise and get away for free. I thought it very unlikely that it would check through especially online. A free card on this board doesnt hurt me as much as it would on other boards simply because of the fact most hands that can legitimately draw through that flop will pay again to draw through the turn. So while I figure to make money from draws that call I thought the benefit of checking outweighed this fact. The more I think about the pro/cons of this I think I lean slightly towards betting.
