I m last to act after the flop and I flop a set of tens and there is a rainbow on the board. The small blind bets right out and evryone calls about 5 players now I decide to just call rather then raise because there was no flush draw on the board. The next card is an 8 and the small blind bets again 2 players fold ther others 3 call and I raiuse the original better calls the other 3 fold and now we are heads up and a k hits the board and the small blind bets again. I decide to raise thinking he is playing a 10 with a weak kicker and is trying to bluff when the king hit so he callsd. I show my set and he turns over pocket 8s the full boat how could I have played this different? Just so you know OI am 22 ansd playing in 3-6

Noel after thinking about this hand a little I don't think I would have done much differently. The information you gave about the hand is vague (not sure what the other card was on the flop) however you decided to just call on the flop. If I could suggest to you that raising here may be a better play for these reasons. 1) You have a queen kicker with your 10 and it's a pretty good kicker!!! If the other 10 is out in the hand you may "bring him to life" by raising. It's not much to assume that one of your opponents would slow play a 10 since you did. 2) You make your opponents pay a higher price to draw out on you. Depending on what they hold, they are likely correct in calling one bet on this flop but not two bets. Making your opponents pay when you are in a good position to win and they are not is where a great deal of your profit comes from in poker. I must say you got unlucky here when your opponent spiked an 8 on the turn but he played it about as poorly as he could have and so even though you lost this pot you certainly didn't lose as much as you could/should have. I would have raised your hand on the turn and I don't disagree with your raise on the river and I like your thinking before you decided to raise. However, you can be a little cautious if a passive player all of a sudden wants to bet the river. It OFTEN means he has something from this TYPE of player. I wouldn't change much in your play of this hand...sometimes you can do it all right and lose. That's poker!!! Good luck!! GRANT PITTMAN

The main suggestion I would offer for your play of this hand would be to consider folding before the flop. Hands like QT, KT, AT, KJ, etc. when offsuit do not play real well in multi-way pots. This is mainly because you will frequently flop 1 pair and lose, because 1 pair is in trouble against several opponents, and you will often lose several bets with these hands when you flop a pair. These hands are better against fewer opponents. That being said, you got unlucky in the hand you described, and I don't think you made any big errors with it (I may have raised on the flop).
Good luck!
Mark

This may be being a little picky, but...

If you had Q10 in your hand, you actually flopped trips, not a set.

A set is when you have a pocket pair and flop one more of your kind.

Obviously, a set is more desirable than trips because it is disguised much better.

Maybe that is a little anal, but it's just my 2 cents.
