Escrow accounts for player, JAque, 24. Aug 2003 12:04 | ||

| Why is not possible for an Online Poker site to hire an independent (internationally well known Co) escrow company to manage the balances of players' accounts and payouts? This will avoid the fear of depositing on line and having casinos "robing Peter to Pay Paul" situations. If the the casino cannot cover its operating expenses for a day or a week, I am sure they are digging into the player's money without anybody knowing about it. As long as the keep getting new players or the number of games goes up, they will eventually catch up, otherwise they are at the edge of disaster many times a month. It could be something like Neteller outside the USA , where you just deposit to one place without the need transfer to another place. If the casino closes its doors, the escrow Co will only release the funds to the last day of operation and refund the rest to the players. The cost of doing business this way can be offset by the fees they pay Neteller today and the increase in business due to the integrity of the site. Wishfull thinking?? JAque | ||

| I would generally agree with you, but the beauty of a poker site is that there is little risk. It isn't like sites where you can play blackjack and craps where an unlucky night could set a website down. Every time there is a raked pot they make money. I don't see how they could have the big swings in money like you are talking about. It may be a good idea for game sites other than poker (as mentioned) but I don't think applies too much here. | ||

| I don't think it is a problem as long as you are using somebody established. They are raking tonnes of money not to mention the interest that they make from the deposits. A site that is solvent and profitable is therefore never going to need to dig into those coffers. | ||
