NL SNG Bet Question, donrhem, 24. Aug 2003 08:24
View ( Message | Thread )       Return to Thread List
I am playing at NL SNG at Party. Blinds still at 15/30 and I am in the lead by a small amount.

I call the $15 bet in LP with 76sh. There are five other callers in the pot.

Flop is 5c8c9sUTG bets 15 and three callers to me and one behind.

What do you bet here?

Thanks,
Don

Since you called the $15 bet, can I assume the blinds are still 10/15? I'd make a pot sized raise here -- 150 (if I counted right) chips if anyone wants to play. If a flush or other scary card didn't hit on the turn, and since you're playing on party poker, I might just push all my chips in. The likelyhood of getting called by someone drawing dead or with just a flush draw is not too remote, and if you take down the pot, you can't complain too much!

Lee,

Thanks for the response.

Yes the blinds were still 15/30. That is just what I did. I bet the $150 and everyone folded.

yeah, because you will get a caller from a flush draw, and even a 9-10 and sometimes someone with an open ender.

A pot sized bet is a good one here.... better to win a small pot than lose a large one.

Your only other option is slowplaying the hand, and making sure you have the nuts on the river, and hoping someone gets 2 pair and bets large, bluffs, etc. This is your best chance of doubling up with the least amount of risk, but you have to be able to get away from the hand if anything scary falls. (and a 10 could be scary, by someone holding J9, etc.)

I am very surprised you didn't get a call at PP on that. What was the buy-in on the table?
