| Hi. Here is true blind defense story. Hand 1: I have Ad6d in the big blind. A very tight pro raises first in from 2 off the button. All fold to me. I fold. Hand 2: A couple of hours later, I have 9d3d in the big blind. A loose and weak kid raises first in from 2 off the button All fold to me. I call. Flop is Kd8h6c. I check, he bets, I call. Turn is Kh. I bet, he folds. Your thoughts? BarryT | ||

| Hi. It is over $300/oz these days. The way I play, I can only afford it once in a while. :-) BarryT | ||

| Barry, In no way should my opinion be valued by the likes of you pros, but I find this type of play to be very useful in the shorthanded online games I play in. For example, if a player raises preflop (esp. in a blind steal situation) and the flop comes down cards that don't fit that players profile of raising requirements: a checkraise on the flop or a bet out on the turn is very successful in taking down the pot unless the player has pocket pairs. Anyway, thought I would add my 2 cents. Will | ||

| Hi. Thanks for your 2 cents. In fact, in heads up play, you must make some moves or you will be outplayed all the time. In my hand, if he does not have specifically a king, he has a hard time keeping in the hand. My actualy holding is not important to the way I was planning to play the hand. BarryT | ||

| Its all about moves in Shorthand play or the aggression and ante would eat you alive. was in a short handed play flop comes A,2,8 and 8. Seat 2 hit it on every street (Second to last pos.) Got everyone to fold. Showed hes 3,5o. I chastised him for showing us that. Everyone wins all the time with crapola, but its not a good idear to avertise it. It really isnt in a short hand game, because to much of the pots are won by semi-bluffing and out and out lies. | ||

| I understand your thinking but you are taking it to extremes on both hands. I doubt either play is a winner my good man. GRANT PITTMAN | ||

| Hi. I agree. This was a very extreme circumstance, IMO, but I posted this because it was so out of the ordinary. The tight player is very tight, and does not make many allowances for position. I almost always give him the money. The loose player had made several inappropriately aggressive raises. I still think I should fold the dogmeal I actually held most of the time even to him, but he looked so smug I just decided to outplay him for drill. BarryT | ||

| I think one of the keys to your second play, was your first play hours earlier. If you can't lay down a hand in the BB after one raise, people take notice. Play 1 setup play 2 in effect, by making it look like you always don't defend your blinds, so when you do, they can credit you with a hand. And as for laying down the Ad6d..... if an ace comes and he continues to bet strong would you lay it down? If you won't there's a strong chance you'll be a big loser, or win a small pot. If you will lay it down when the ace falls the only thing that can help you is 2 pair, a pair of sixes on the board, or diamonds, so a fold isn't bad. | ||
