One of the most important and most difficult issues a poker player needs to overcome within his own mind is the ability to leave a game a loser.....We all are competitive people otherwise we would not be playing and surrender is not an easy option for us.

But you must learn to pull the trigger on this decision if you want to be a strong performer in poker.....I see this leak in many otherwise strong players and this leak ALONE will turn them into losers.....When you're tired, beaten up, had enough......Go Home! Over the course of time your bankroll will appreciate that decision!

Life is Good :-)

My ability to leave a game when I'm stuck (because the game has deteriorated, I've gotten tired, I'm playing poorly, or some other reason) versus some of my opponents inabilities to do this is one of the biggest edges I hold over them in poker.

I couldn't agree with you more here, Mark.

Applying these disciplinary skills by not allowing yourself to play anything but an optimal session........ is a Big edge......HUGE!

Being able to play really well is not enough to survive. You must have all the abilities to rise to the top and "stay there".
......and self-discipline is the "backbone" of winning poker, IMO.

Been called a hit an runner myself, but now I no longer play enough that this stigma might harm me. But generally when the line between the predator and prey starts to grey, it means its time to run, so you don't break a leg and can't.
