Just got back from a b/m where a couple of players insisted on seeing virtually every called losing hand....boy were the real foolish players getting humiliated....with comments like..".I folded better than that"...I hate this but what to do?...let mr. Q high pay off and spare him the dreaded and unwanted laughter....they very well could be running off fish or worse encouraging them to play better...What to do???

There's not a whole lot you can do to change the behavior of others at the table. Some people simply will not change and find some sick joy in insulting others. Let them go. If you do find yourself getting to know some of these guys well enough, you may be able to say something to them on the side later. If you try this, you want to come at them from their perspective. I would approach the guys you want to shut up and say something like, "Can you believe the crap these chump fish are playing? I'll tell you what though, I know how hard it it is to watch them play that crap, but I keep my mouth shut while they're doing it 'cause I don't want them ever getting a clue, you know what I mean?" Approaching the subject in that way eases their defenses to your advice because you're acting like their friend and they'll be more open to what you have to say.

As for the fishes, be their best friend at the table. Encourage every move they make in spite of the insulters at the table. Make like you just can't believe that j-6 offsuit didn't win. Be as charming and friendly to them as you can. If they ask for advice, be as vague as possible while using the term "texture of the table" as much as possible or be playful while saying, "a magician never divulges his secrets, you know what I mean?" Laugh at every joke they make, no matter how lame.

Well put and said...I may try that with a few guys...hopefully they will see the error of their ways...I haven't played b/m for about 3 years and almost forgot that type of behaviour exists as I am very focused on one and only one goal....making $$$...in a related incident today one of the needlers pulled me aside when I went to check my status on the list(bigger game)....I was kinda wondering what he was going to say to me...something secret or sinister about another player?...no....he deadpanned that if he had played the hand being played he would have turned trip 7's..I feigned shock....forgot that behaviour exists too...lol

Hey coach-

I really hate that too. I usually try to aim for the muck when I fold so that the dealer can't find my cards. Then, if they ask what I had, I will usually say either, "I forget," or "Pocket Aces."

The rule should be that all hands in the final showdown must be shown and it should be strictly enforced. This is a great deterrent to collusion, which is not really much of a problem in low limit games, but can be in the higher limit games. If I call a bet and then show my hand, I want to see my opponents hands because I paid for the information. I always show my hand because now and then I try to bluff, and my opponents should be made aware of this. It really does pays to advertise, and bluffing is part of your advertising budget.

The bettor or raiser should flip his cards over first, so if you do pay (by calling) for the information, you should be getting it.

I agree, then if you have lost, you should have the option to muck without showing. Similarly, if I bet/raise the river and do not get called, I should have the option to collect without showing my cards.

As a rule I don't want any...must show cards policy....some bad or "high" players may misread their hands and throw in winning hands....I've seen and heard all too often....the comments from good samaritans like..."you won your jack plays.....or you got a deuce for a flush".....
