| i play in a 1-4/4-8 game with some of the biggest fish that you could imagine to play with at this level...and lately my raises have been getting a little too much respect....i think the reason is because not too long ago i informed the table that you should raise with good hands in order to knock people out preflop and blah blah blah (the reason i told them about this is so i would be able to read their hands better)...so now everytime i raise they all fold around to me....so lately i have been slow playing hands sometimes like AA, KK, AK and so on in order to get some callers ...so basically i have been labeled the expert at this table (when i'm far from this) and everyone is afraid to play against me unless they have the nuts....so my winnings at this game have decreased from an average night of between 100-200 bucks up now to lately -50 and only up 50....slow playing seems to have not really helped me much when i have good hands because most will only check to me....dont get me wrong this has been great for me to steal pots but overall it seems to have hurt my profits at this game....should i let them catch me bluffing a few times or maybe raising with bad hands?....any advice would help because this game used to be a gold mine for me and lately it has been a headache...thanks in advance for the help bane277 | ||

| Start bluffing a lot... Raise it up with nothing and steal the blinds. Steal every pot if they'll let you get away with it. They will eventually catch on and stop letting you run over them. In the mean time you should see your profit increase. | ||

| Hi Bane You should raise with some goofy stuff and show it and laugh and giggle about it....You want to be able to raise and get action...If you are forced to use trap plays to get any action your best hands have lost much of their value! | Once you get it figured out, I suggest you refrain from informing the table about your solution. lol | ||

| yeah you guys are probably right i should have just excepted losing a few pots when they are limping in with their AA in the hole ...and not informed them of raising preflop and so on (so i could put them on hands)...the small amount of money i would have lost on bad beats would have been paid for by no one understanding why i'm raising...i will try stealing more pots and raising with nothing only to get caught and make a big deal about it....thanks again for the great advice bane277 on 19. | Bane keep in mind that contrary to popular belief by many a "book smart" player, having people fold bad hands to you and discouraging them from chasing you hurts your long term profit. I am guessing it is no fluke that your profits have decreased. You have suggested to your opponents how to play better and they listened. YUK!!!!! Learn to deal with the swings the game will deal you and buckle down for a long ride. You can be respected and liked without it costing you $$$$$$$$$$$$. Good luck. GRANT PITTMAN | ||

| Next time you play, wait for 10 hands, then raise every hand. My guess would be that you would win 5 out of 10. Or if you want to get technical, Raise once in 10 hands, next 10 raise 2 next 10 raise 3 etc... last 10 raise 10. Keep the raises spaced out. Interested in see how long it would take for them to figure you out. | ||
