I have been playing poker online for more than a year now. I've got enough FPP's at Stars to order Lou Krieger's online poker book. Do I really need it, as I think I know how to navigate and play at the sites I have an account. Is it more of a beginner book? How about John Vourhaus' book?

Is there any real value in those books that aim for online play as opposed to the books I already own:

Gary Carson: Complete book of Hold'em
Sklansky: Theory of poker, Texas Hold'em
Lee Jones: Winning low limit Hold'em
Malmuth/Loomis: Fundamentals of poker (don't laugh, I placed 3rd in a Stars PLO tourney with this book open in my lap. $1 buy-in but still :-) )

As I have said earlier I'm mostly a limit HE player.

I really want those chips in the FPP store though, should I just wait until I get enough points for them. Especially now that they have reduced the weight from 11.5 ounces to 11.5 grams :-)

Do you mean " Killer Poker Online: Crushing the Internet Game " or "Killer Poker: Strategy and Tactics for Winning Poker Play"?

I assume the former. What's so great about it? Is it an introduction to online poker in general or a more indept analysis of tells online players give off pauses/no pauses before a bet and such? Or starting hand tables/explanations of position considerations/pot odds etc. Got plenty of that already.

Then again for $10.47 (amazon), just one good tip is worth the cash.

Hey Dez,

I have the book, Internet Poker: How to Play and Beat Online Poker Games, by Lou Krieger. It also came with a CD.

Alot of the book is based on a general overview of internet poker, ie, chosing a game, signing up, funding your online account, etc. etc.......the basics.

Then there's a chapter that lists the five most common internet poker games with a sub catagory for each one with some tips on, "To raise or not to raise", "beyond the flop", "bluffing", "drawing", etc. etc..

There's another chapter on the common concepts to all poker games: Essential poker strategy, Win money not pots, Be selective and aggresive, Play only the best starting hands, Early decisions matter most, etc. etc..

There's a chapter dedicated strictly to Money Management with sub catagories that cover all the basic yet important information on that subject, ie, keeping records and why, standard deviation, should you set stop-loss limits?, etc. etc.

Personally.......there wasn't that many "new" and/or "mind-blowing" techniques to playing poker on the internet where I would say, "wow, that's something to really think about", BUT.......there *are* some tips in the book that can be useful to anyone. It's kinda like a "reminder" in many ways, and that can always be useful as well.

I didn't pay for the book so I don't know how much it costs (there wasn't a price listed on it), but if you can get it without paying too much, I guess it couldn't hurt to have another book in your library. Even if you picked up "one or two things" from it, IMO it would be worth it. But is it a "must have" book?.....IMHO.......no.

I would say that Slansky's book advanced hold em is MUCH more worth buying as it is IMO the best book on hold em.

Oh yeah..........it's not even close! I agree with you, but the two books are different in the way that the online poker book covers all the poker games with alot of basic stuff for beginners. Like I said though, it wouldn't hurt to have it. Would I pay for it?......well I didn't, so.....! LOL!

I bought Kriegers online book after I had been playing online poker (poker in general) for 2 or 3 weeks. I didntl earn anything that I didnt already know or deduce by that point. In my opinion it isnt even worth the shipping price unless you have NEVER played online.

Good luck!
