| Even the sites that are struggling are not reducing rake...I think if a new site or an old struggling one offered $1 max rake they would be packed.....it seems like no one is even seriously considering this and would rather flounder than offer a deal..someone must be preventing smaller sites from trying this...if I'm wrong make me understand please | ||

| Great idea Coach. Even a reduction to $2 max would be a big help to the players - and the online poker rooms could still make a killing. When I played in Las Vegas 10 years ago the HorseShoe did exactly that, offerring $2 max rake while the Mirage had $3. I'm pretty sure Binions still made plenty on the tables. The growth potential for online poker is phenomenal imo. There are millions of casual poker players and only a small percent have yet to try playing online. Online poker rooms may very well become multi billion dollar busineses and whoever gets there first with the most and best will dominate for years to come. Party Poker has the lead right now but a site with the right formula of a bargain rake, great software, and plenty of server capacity could easily end up taking the lions share of what may end up a much much bigger pie. | ||

| Yes exactly it's a shame that some of these sites would rather "go down" not breaking the unwritten rule then prosper....if it's been repeatedly and properly tried and failed I can see....but I have not seen it attempted....all the promos are in the area of "bonus" points and $ bonus on sign-up and renewal....It's early morning for me right now and I'm playing limit he....would be on the lowest rake sie if there was one... | ||

| 24hpoker.com offers a lower rake than i think every other site. That being said a site lowering the rake might just not be that great of a move for a site. The reason is because in reality the bad players (the players you want to play against) in general do not understand how much the rake hurts them. I have been playing online where players have asked in chat what that little pile of chips is up by the tray each hand. Or they ask how the sites make money if they dont have advertising on them. Now, the exact opposite happens with the good players as they are attracted to this site because of the lower rake and in the long run make less because they are playing tougher competition while the fish just pass the money around on whatever site they happened upon first. | ||

| Fair enough....but all players seek action....in the city I am from had a wide poker room network. had developed....the #1 place....a b/m with the lowest rake(session fee)...fish come and go.....serious players make a site work....I do not seek tougher competition.....just a better P/L....there is a sinister force at work here...someone is too scared to try lest they be closed "permanently".... | ||
