| a recent decision i had to make was in a b&m casino in a $120buy in NLH tourny. blinds at 50-100 and down to 1000T left. average is about 3000T. blinds are going up after this hand and im UTG with pocket 10s. push allin and called by queens. is there another way to play this hand and not lose all my chips? is this a good spot to go in on? and is there a way for me to get away from the hand if i just call or make a small raise and get played at? | ||

| I think you made the right decision....you are looking to survive....I am HUGELY against just calling. I can make a case for a pre-flop bet that is large, but still allows for you to fold if raised all-in by a tight player...(But are you going to fold anyway?) But you are in desperate straights...you need chips and you almost have to win the hand! Roy Cooke on 15. | If you have pocket TT's, the odds against another player having a better hand preflop are 5.8 to 1, 5.1 to 1, and 4.5 to 1 for 8-, 9-, and 10-handed games respectively. Thus, it is correct for you to go all-in. These odds are from Ken Warren's "The Winner's Guide to Texas Hold'em Poker" (1996, Cardoza ishing NY, NY), page 193. In the table on page 195, poket TT's are ranked No. 6 in earning power, based on a computer simulation. The author doesn't cite reference from which he obtained the data. This book was written for the beginner playing low-limit Hold'em and was only $14.95. Unfortunately for me. I bought this book when the Can $ was nudging the 60 cent barrier. I saw a new edition in the Chapter's bookstore but it was too expensive as was Amarillo Slim's new book ($40 CDN + 14.5 % sales tax). -=-MouseEars | ||
