| Forever end those annoying messenger pop-ups that always seem to appear when you have a playable hand. Those forum members that use Windows 2000, NT, or XP can shut this off in less than one minute with easy to follow directions here: http://www.itc.virginia.edu/desktop/docs/messagepopup/ | ||

| Andrew, Question: How did you come with that? Seriously?.......I've got windows XP and it's a constant thing, every 2 minutes, sometimes even more than that. Thanks a LOT! 4P- | ||

| I think it's disgusting that the same people who use this to invade my space are those that sell software to end their ubiquitous ads. I knew this was probably just a simple setting, but Microsoft makes it hard to find and won't document such. I found the link on a page that I got to from U.VA by accident. I thought it was too useful not to share it with everyone. | ||

| Everyone who owns a computer and is on the internet should download Ad-Aware and SpyBot. They are GREAT free utitilities that search your computer and clean up all the stuff you didn't know that was installed (that are often the cause of those pop-ups). Ad-Aware can be found here: http://www.lavasoftusa.com/support/download/ and SpyBot here: http://www.safer-networking.org/ SpyBot seems to work a little better from what I can tell, but they both catch stuff that the other doesn't. Must haves. Johnny. | ||

| These are absolutely two essential utilities. If you haven't cleaned your machine of this form of marketing data collection, you are probably going to be shocked by the results. Another good program is AtGuard. This will prevent much of the web page advertising, particularly extra browser windows. However, pop-up messenger ads still need to be prevented by turning off the switch as the original link I posted describes. None of these utilities handle this form of spam. | ||
