| Just wondering if someone could tell me how long B&M HE tourneys take to complete. Someone posted a pokerpage.com schedule of tournaments and it got me to thinking of how many people usually get into these tournaments and how long it takes. I assume the don't get the same quantity as online. 200 seems average for a $20 tournament and maybe 4 hours to complete. | ||

| My B&M runs tourneys regularly (both Limit and NL) an dthey cap the buy-ins at 125. They usually run between three and four hours. -Moz "Your destiny chooses you." | ||

| 4 hours would be a tournament full of speed demons anxious to get out. Also what format are we talking about? Obviously, no limit would be faster than limit, due to the number of people taking crazy chances in going all in and getting busted. Limit Hold 'Em with 32 tables at the last one I was at took 10 hours from start to the the last man standing. Hey Doc, no matter what you do, if you're going to get into playing B&M tourneys, TAKE CARE OF YOUR BACK. I'm not kidding. I did the LA marathon back in March this year and I can tell you that a tournament w/ a big field requires as much endurance as doing 26.2 miles, if not more (at least in running your brain can take a break). If Card Player magazine ran a feature showing the x-rays of the top pros' backs, it would be a chiropractor's dream. | ||

| Not sure if MozMan means the Casino AZ (CA) tournys, but if he does they are fast because the CA likes to kick the blinds up very fast and they start with 25/50 I believe. I have been enjoying the smaller more intimate ones like at Gila River on Wed. Its $55 buy in and unlimited re-buys for the first hour. 30% usually re-buy. Average is about 50 people and it only pays about $2200 for first. Its not as big as CA tourny but in my opinion has better players than CA and its more of a courtesy to players. The CA one is expensive to buy in and moves very fast, seems they want to get the tables and dealers back so they can make the rakes at the rings games. | ||

| Yeah, I was talking about CAZ... In Limit, you get T2000 to start, and blinds/bets start at 25-50/50-100 and go up every 20 minutes. In NL, you get T2000 to start, blinds start at 25-25, then second round is 25-50 (kinda strange) and also go up every 20 minutes. Buy-in is $125 on weekday tourneys and $150 on Saturdays. They also have a ladies-only once a month that buys in at $40 and a winner-take-all NL tourney that buys-in at $1000. I actually really enjoy the tourneys there, but have heard many wonderful things about the tourneys at Gila River, too. Do they still have the lunchtime $20 thing on Thursdays? -Moz "Your destiny chooses you." | ||

| I have not been able to get out of work to hit the noon day ones. But they have a freeroll once a week with $5 re-buys that gets a lot of players. They also have a noon $5 tourny on another weekday. FT.Mcdowell has cheap noon tournys also. These are great for practice and wont kill your bank roll. Might try a no-limit ar CA next week. I played a limit recently at Gila and was pissed off at the fishes. I had AK spades and this fish had 2,6 of hearts. Blinds were 200-400. I bet, the person called. Flop comes Ac,Ad,10h. I bet everyone folds and this player calls. Turn is a 9h I bet 400 player calls. River is a 3h I bet player calls and wins. That is one of the downsides to limit. I am sure in no-limit if this person had any skill they would have folded if I pushed all-in on the flop. Anyway Wed at gila is no-limit and they get some good pros there. Several have played at WSOP and others. Pretty tough game that why I like it on Wed. | ||

| Wasn't Larry Flynt well known for trying to buy off other players at a major tournament or something like that? Someone who would cheat at poker is definately not someone I would vote for. Even if he doesn make porn mags, lol. | ||

| Yeah...if I recall, he had a $1,000,000 sidebet at 1000-1 odds as to whether he would win a world series stud evernt (his thousand against a million - might have been Binion's million himslef - don't remember) and there was talk that he was trying to buy other players out of the tournament. But it's Larry Damn Hell FLynt. You expect that sort of thing from the first man to "show pink" in print. | ||

| > Actually, it didn't work for Hitler or all you Canadians would be speaking German Hitler lost the war because he chose to invade Siberia...his advisors cautioned him against it. Actually he surrounded himself with a large number of brilliant men which is why he did so well in conquering half of Europe. As for us Canadians, why would we be speaking German? Hitler had no bent to capture Canada - perhaps he would have taken over England (though I doubt very much the English would be speaking German if he had) but what interest would Germany have with Canada other than a diplomatic one? Sure, we backed up the British in the war (and a lot damn hell quicker than lazy America waiting for everybody else to get worn out fighting for years before they came in and mopped up the mess), but I hardly think that would make grounds for a German invasion. > Besides, I didn't know you were a porn fan, does Wren know? And of course Wren knows ... I wouldn't be with a woman who got jealous of porno - what kind of unstable bizzatch would that be? Of course skin magazines have become so very outdated by the advent of the internet. Why should I buy a $10 rag when I can just go online and seach for "blonde waitresses wearing concrete shirts" or whatever it is I feel interested in on the day? | ||

Why should I buy a $10 rag when I can just go online and seach for "blonde waitresses > wearing concrete shirts" or whatever it is I feel interested in on the day? Lazy Americans? Invade Siberia? How provincial. One thing about you, studioh, you don't hesitate to express your OPINION as well as your advice, which is quite good, by the way, certainly much better than your OPINION. Your sense of history is, however a little foggy, And what are the lazy Canadians doing? Waiting for us to exhaust ourselves in the Middle East? We can continue this debate on NPQ if you wish. | ||
