| I am finally of legal age to gamble and of course buy alcohol, so I am going to Atlantic City this weekend with a couple of my friends! My question is, how can I get the best deal for hotel rooms right now? I looked on lastminutetravel, etc etc and they are all in the $150 range. I am college student so I can not afford those high rates. Also, where can I get information on tournaments? What is the average buy-in for the tournaments? If I play limit, what range should I play? My friends have told me that the 2/4 and 3//6 are impossible to win at because everyone calls to the end. Thanks a lot Mike | ||

| Call around to the casinos you're planning on playing at and see what they do for room rates if you book enough hours playing poker. You might get a $150 room for half of that. | ||

| Internet Internet Internet I've heard there's lots of info on it. Happy Birthday. Here's some elderly advice on turning legal.......if you're going to play poker, do it before your friends get a hold of you with the ceremonial round of shots. If your friends are worth a damn, they'll stake you in your tournaments. Tell 'em we at UPF suggested it. on 14. | The Tropicana does poker room rates and their tourney schedule is online. You may have to get a poker card and play some before you can get the 1/2 off rate. Yes, the 2/4 and 3/6 games have many staying until the end. This is why you CAN may money at the tables. Just remove most bluff plays from your came and wait for the big hands. Most players at that level will not notice you are only playing 1 or 2 hands out of 10. Make the calling stations PAY for the cards until the river...then check/call on the river (unless you have the nuts)....even if you get rivered a couple of times you should still make out in the long run. | One suggestion: do not try to walk from the Taj to the Trop. They are not as close as they look. | ||

| Hey Mike, Call the Atlantic City Chamber Of Commerce. They will give you the hotel rates for all the hotels in the surrounding areas as well. Most of the casinos in AC are quite expenseive, but the ones that are just a few miles away are much cheaper. There are some real seedy ones too, you don't want to stay there, but there are plenty of well known hotel chains that are nice and affordable. If you play at the Taj Mahal or The Tropicana poker room, you can ask them for a poker rate and if the rooms are available, you may be able to get one for around $80,(which is about 1/2 the price), but on the weekend and with no notice ahead of time, it's gonna be tough. Good luck when you go and just a tip......the Taj spreads the most hold-em games, and you can play really low limit there too if you like, ($2-4 up to whatever)! And the Tropicana is the room that will spread the tournaments.......every day except saturdays, for info call......(1-888-POKERAC). 4 POKER | ||

| most of the boardwalk casinos are booked solid for a long time. you could check expedia and priceline to see if they have any openings....otherwise i would look up comfort inn's and the like in the town of absecon. it is not even 10 min. outside of AC and they have very good rates. my friends and i usually crash out there in one of the many, many hotels out route 30 and then just plow back into AC in the morning :) the 2/4 and 3/6 games at the taj/borgata are very fishy but somewhat tough to beat flat out just due to the number of people that stay in until the end. i have had success coming out ahead....but i have yet to come away with a +20 BB destruction. good luck!! | ||
