| Not sure if I got lucky or played good poker. $10 SnG NL at Party Comments added to hand history. ***** Hand History for Game 136755701 ***** 100/200 TourneyTexasHTGameTable (NL) (Tournament 724700) - Wed Aug 13 22:45:56 EDT 2003 Table Card Room Table 2291 (Real Money) -- Seat 10 is the button Total number of players : 6 Seat 2: munk8 (1010) Seat 5: hdbjr100 (890) Seat 6: NickleRich (740) ME Short stacked, looking for a blind steal Seat 8: timped (2575) Seat 9: GrandCasino (1690) Seat 10: CFlorida (1095) munk8 posts small blind (50) hdbjr100 posts big blind (100) ** Dealing down cards ** Dealt to NickleRich [ 7c, Ad ] I am UTG, Ace with decent kicker. Let's try to steal NickleRich raises (200) to 200 Maybe I should have bet 300??? timped folds. GrandCasino folds. CFlorida calls (200) Surprise to get a caller. My notes on this guy were he called someone's All In early in the tourney. He had A10o and All In won with 44. Thought it was an unusual call so early in the tourney. He had big stack at the time, but it didn't make sense to call with that hand. At least to me it didn't. munk8 folds. hdbjr100 calls (100) He had been aggressive early. Wasn't too surprise he called, but I think a bet on the flop will get rid of him. ** Dealing Flop ** : [ Ts, Ah, 4s ] hdbjr100 checks. NickleRich bets (250) Hey I flopped an Ace. Let's make a good size bet. I have about 540 so I bet almost 1/2 my chips and 2.5 x BB. Scared to go all in, because maybe someone flopped a set or 2 pair. CFlorida raises (500) to 500 Not happy here. My first thought is he is holding an Ace and I am probably getting out kicked. STUPID 7!!! hdbjr100 folds. That was nice. NickleRich raises (290) to 540 NickleRich calls all-In. I thought about what would happen if I didn't call. I would have 290 left. I would be BB next. In 2 hands I could have 140. Doesn't look good for me. Figured I have to go all in. If I am out kicked that is just poker. CFlorida calls (40) ** Dealing Turn ** : [ Qh ] ** Dealing River ** : [ 5c ] Creating Main Pot with $1730 with NickleRich ** Summary ** Main Pot: 1730 | Board: [ Ts Ah 4s Qh 5c ] munk8 balance 960, lost 50 (folded) hdbjr100 balance 690, lost 200 (folded) NickleRich balance 1730, bet 740, collected 1730, net +990 [ 7c Ad ] [ a pair of aces with seven kicker -- Ad,Ah,Qh,Ts,7c7c(kicker card) ] timped balance 2575, didn't bet (folded) GrandCasino balance 1690, didn't bet (folded) CFlorida balance 355, lost 740 [ 2c Ac ] [ a pair of aces -- Ac,Ah,Qh,Ts,5c ] This is what I don't understand. Why would he call a raise with A2s? Was he playing the flush. Not a wise move 6 handed in a tourney. At least it's something I would not try. When I bet the flop, he had to put me on an Ace at the minimum. Was he just trying to bully me? I did think of folding until I looked at what I would be left with. I think my A7 raise was a good chance to steal. Maybe 300 instead of 200. And my All IN was reasonable. Comments? | ||

| Hi Dr. Monkey I think your Steal attempt was a bad one. UTG is not a great place to make such an attempt when you are short stacked. Obviously this depends on the table and current betting patterns, but i would have waited at least a spot or two. As for his calling with the A2s, (i no longer have your post infront of me) if he had a big stack, he can easily call hoping to flop the nut flush, and bust you. Also, short handed, his Ace may be best at the moment or may make a winning pair. If he was short stacked, he may also be feeling the same pressure as you. As for the flop. You only bet out approx. 1/2 the pot, which looks weak, and he probably figured that his pair of aces was good. If you were going to call all-in anyway, you should have put yourself all-in from the start (of the flop). This way, if he had had a hand that beat you, like A8, A9, or A10, he probably would have laid it down. Your calling was a weak play that had a lucky result. Mark | ||
