I took a look at you bio and saw that you went to UW and got a BMath degree like I did. What year did you start in? I obviously know a lot of people in the math program there but I know quite a few who are big into Poker. They go to Casinorama alot.

I started in '96. I play poker with Professor Wagner pretty frequently, and grad students Pete Lizak and Ming Wei Wang. I've played with Bruce Lee and play pretty frequently with Ranil Sandanayake, though both of them have graduated. Who else ... Brett D'amelio ... Robin Stewart and Robin Carswell ... Andrew Martinez ... can't think of any other UW mathies who play off the top of my head.

We generally all play at Brantford though - Rama is farther away.

So who are you anyway?

In first year I lived in residence on the floor that was heavy with 140's math students...North E in Village 2.

Anyhow, Brian Pearson rings a bell. Is he the engineering student that used to wear tight shirts at the Bomber all the time and looked kinda fruity? In the same engineering class as Scarth and Cassiak and Gizmo?

So are you still around Kitchener/Waterloo? If you want to come I can let you know when there's a game. Lizak sometimes hosts PL omaha games and when we get our apartment in shape, Wreny and I will probably start having games again too.

no different brian pearson. i know your floor and all the 140 guys. i was in west e. i know quite a few guys on north e though. i went to high school with ian prest and jeff shute. andy knapp was in the sam program as me (actuarial science). i think kisman was on your floor. i am not sure if i can recall anyone else off the top of my head.
i live in atlanta now. i come back to that area though often. usually nto to play cards though. a buddy and i try to hit up other places when we want to play cards. we went to tunica for the jack binion mid america classic and are going to go back in january for the wpt event. i won't be playing in the main event though. 10G is a lot to fork out. i may play a satelitte of two though

No kidding...you're from Belleville? Yeah...I haven't seen Shute and Prest for a while. Kissman became a Putnam Fellow, went to U of T for a Masters, dropped out and went back to Alberta, then came back here to work for Bioinformatic Solutions. Did you know Jim Nastos? He's living in Edmonton now and engaged. Last I heard of Soroosh, he was at his third ivy league grad school after not liking his first two. Curtis Eisenberg is now some kind of executive for Apple. Hey...did you know George Staikos? He's going to U of T now after he dropped out of UW to work for IBM and wite linux security software.

Other news...ummmmmm...Rico is in Boulder working on his PhD in biochem/X-ray crystalography ... Richard Hoshino is doing his PhD in Halifax now and got into some government program that identifies future politicians or something. He was the validictorian for the math faculty. Steve Guidi is out in Washington working for Microsoft, last I heard. Big Raz is still living in Mississauga/Toronto ... can't think of any other gossip at the moment. So what's your name anyway? Any chance I would know you?

That was Rico and Jim taking CS130. He did the project in about an hour after the two of them had tried to get it done by picking printouts from the recycle bin. Those were the days.

Oh...then we've probably met. I came over to that place a few times to throw darts and play video games, if it is the place I'm thinking of. Yeah, I knew that Prest was out of work. He had an offer from Trillogy in Austin and then they downsized and revoked the offer before he got there. He did all those co-op terms at Microsoft and did well, but they didn't give him a job either. He broke his foot and just ended up slouching around for quite some time.

Say, were you the roommate that was dating Cara Paine?

Anyhow, it's a small damn hell world. Give me a buzz if you're going to be around S. Ontario any time soon.
