| Now I know what you guys mean when you say the cards can run bad. I sat at a 3-6 table and the following 3 hands happened within 15 minutes. Hand #1: EP - pocket JJ - i open for 6 - LP (1 before cutoff) 3 bets and I call figuring him for overcards (not sure about a pair though). 5 callers (i know loose table). Flop comes 6-J-4 (rainbow). I check . Raiser bets, I raise, he raises, I cap. 1 other caller. turn makes board 6-J-4-10 (heart flush draw 6-10). I bet out - get raised - reraise - called. Both players still alive (3rd player is sandwhiched between us). River card is K (no flush). I bet out, 2nd folds, original raiser raises. I reraise figuring Ak (maybe a mistake here), he reraises, I nervously call. Flips over pocket KK. Lose 11 BB on first major hand played. Hindsight: Probably should have just called raise on river and saved 2 BB. Other than that, not sure what else to do. 5 hands later, still stinging a bit (saw 1 flop in between and mucked) Hand #2: LP (1 before cutoff) - Pocket 9-9. Limp as there are 6 callers. Flop comes Q-9-K (KQ suited) SB and BB check, next bets out, call, call, I raise looking for some info and cutoff folds, 3 others call. 1 rock was still in the hand and the other 2 were loose. Turn comes: Q-9-K-A SB checks, BB bets, rock folds, I raise (again in search of info , SB 3 bets, BB calls and I call - totally clueless as to what SB and BB have obviously. I didn't make either of them on a straight because they didn't raise on the flop and would still need the same 2 cards to make the straight, but a slowplay was possible. River comes Qd-9s-Kd-Ac-Qh. Ok, no flush and I have weak full house. SB and BB check, I bet and SB raises, BB folds and I call. SB flips over Q-9. I about shat my pants. 6 more BB's out the door. Hindsight: I had a solid hand, but with overs and a straight out there, who knows. I don't know if I overplayed or not. Hand #3 I'm in BB the next time around. I am dealt Pocket Rockets. Ok here we go, after those last two hands, it is my turn and then I can settle in and play good solid cards. It is 4 bet before the flop. 5 callers. Flop comes: A - K - Q (all spades) I bet, it gets raised, I go all in for 3 bets. 3 callers. Turn comes 6 spades. CRAP. Everyone checks. I think maybe no one has a spade. Ok poker Gods, pair that boad for me. River is a rag. Everyone checks again. Set of aces no good to pocket pair of 7h 7s. . I am a rack and a half gone in 20 minutes. I simply left so that I wouldn't go on total tilt and drop a ton. What can you do with that? I actually laughed and feel ok. I was in total amazement. Turned out I was the fish tonight LMAO. Good luck out there. DJpoker | ||

| DJ- That's a tough run. I think the only hand that you played semi-bad was the 99 hand. As you pointed out, to many over's and str8's for that many callers to assume you are good. Also, you realized your erorr on the riuver in hand number 1...better to just call that raise then to hope he is bluffing. Hand number 3...them's the breaks. Anyway, good for you to get up than to blow through another rack. Steve | ||

| The Good News is it is over...you lost you left....maybe the next time/day will be better......I used to make this comment about a losing player i know.....I said if you see me here 5 hours after starting you needn't ask how i'm doing.....and if I see you here I needn't either....only difference ....I would be way UP.(pushing good luck)...he would be way DOWN.(desperately trying to get even and just digging a deeper hole)..!!...you did everything right ...but especially leaving | ||

| Man those hands sound more like something you would see on UB or some other random ass website... for a B&M game that's a tough break... I agree with coach though, you showed excellent discipline in being able to just leave when you did. | ||

| Thanks for the encouragement. I had 3 solid winning sessions over the weekend and I don't know if maybe I was a little overconfident or what. I couldn't believe the cards I was getting. I actually mucked two other pocket pairs as well. Anyway, I'll get back at it again tonight or tomorrow and really stay discplined. The last losing session I had, I went real tight to start the next session and it got me going again. Good luck finding Nemo. DJpoker | ||

| I woudln't worry at all about that 3rd hand, getting all your money in with 3 aces on flop is VERY rarely a bad move, and even if somebody else already had the flush you've got 7 outs there, and if those don't hit then 3 more. However, the best play you made was bailing after that. Mr. Caro has a speech on cardplayer.com about stop losses but i beleive after loosing so much your play goes down with your stack. | ||

| Thanks. I agree with the AA thing. Who wouldn't put all in with AA before the flop? I actually cracked up even more when I was reading the cardplayer article by Phil Hellmuth this month. He went out early in a $5,000 buy-in tourney on pretty much the same hand. Poop happens and then you wipe. Good luck, DJpoker | ||

| In 2003 the first *SEVEN* times I flopped a set of jacks I lost the hand. I think I really started to notice about the 4th time it happened and after that I was scared of hitting a set with JJ. On the eigth time, when it actually held up, I couldn't believe it - I was really, really happy. | ||
