I have never played at party poker, but I hear that there are a lot of "not so good" players there, maybe that is why "weird" things seem to happen more often (plays not by the book).

On Pokerstars on the other hand I have played quite a lot, and the "not so good" players are few and far between, IMHO. Great tourneys though.

Does that mean you can get a softer seat at Party Poker? Can you expect to get in a softer game in some online rooms as opposed to others?

Party Poker has the softest games by far. That can be good over time, but you can expect lots of strange calls that result in bad beats.

In general I would say yes, it all depends on your preference.

I think that the low-limit players on pokerstars are tougher opponents than the players on ladbrokes for example. It is not uncommon to see 8-10 players seeing the flop on Ladbrokes, that is more rare on pokerstars.

I know many will cream their shorts when facing a table full of weak players, I however do not. That's because my style of play is more suited against players who play in a way that makes sense to me, (position consideration for example), than players who plays any cards to the river just to gamble and hope to get lucky.

On Ladbrokes I don't feel comfortable because of the extremely loose players...I don't play draws well enough I guess.

On pokerstars, I know I must play much closer to my A game to be a slight winner, I play there mostly because I just love their multi table tourneys.

The site that seem to make me the most money (not that much, I might add) is Paradise. I do well in the .50/1.00-1.00/2.00-2.00/4.00 range.

I can't really say much about Party as long as I don't play there.

While I'll agree Party is soft, it may be too soft if such a thing exists. Games that run avg pots 15x the BB are not uncommon at the low limits. That's $60 avg pots for a $2-4 game. There seems to be a certain bravado going around that unless you're a terrible player this kind of table is obviously a cash cow to any good player. It's true in the long run, but the short run is so suckout intense that many tight players cannot handle the swings and draws that are bound to happen in these loose games.

That said, there's no reason to have to pick the table with highest pot average and 20 person wait list. Any semi-loose table will do, which is what Party has a lot of. Personally, I'm fond of the single table tournaments.. they've been good to me so far.

Playing on the internet you play so many hands so fast. I play 3 tables at once, often so I see about six times the hands in an hour that I would see in a B&M ... thus I see six times the weird things go on... and that is what looks suspicious. I assure you that the major sites aren't cheating.

Paradise Poker is nice too. More games than partypoker, but less players and no multi table tourneys. Paradise's interface is the best by far. I only prefer partpoker.com beacuse of the large number of players (suckers) :)

I've played both Ultimate Bet and Party Poker and enjoy them both. I would rate UB over Party as far as software and overall quality, but Party definately has the easier competition.

My question to you is this: based on your offhand accusation of online card rooms cheating (fixed), you seem to be untrusting of online poker in general. If you suspected, even a little, that these sites are cheating, why would you be interested in joining one and putting your money there? I don't mean to be rude, but those sort of rumors and accusations make big splashes that scare away the fishies (not that there's too much of a problem schools of them right now..good time to be a poker player...a decent poker player that is)

They have so many bad players at Party, I don't think you have to worry about it. There are just very odd rivers over there.

I prefer the SnG's at PP over the ones at UB, but have much better results on Multi-table's at UB.

The SnG's at PP at indeed pretty soft, as evidenced by the fact that I can consistently place in the money 1 out of 3 times.

One great attraction at UB, the "penny poker" limit and NL games. I have found these invaluable for getting my game refocused on tight play against no-foldem holdem players, not to mention the penny NL game is a great way to get a $5 entry fee to a tourney :-)
