| I was playing in a 33dollar one table satellite. Third guy busts out and its me left with a slight chip lead. Then comes the message "trying to reconnect" Oh, no. Waited, waited. Then exit program, logged into another pokerrm, (pokerstars) no problem. Tryed paradise, no problem. Back to party, bad connection. Called customer service rep. States i see u played no hands and had a chip lead. Tech will see if its a problem here and if it is u will be compensated. And this is the email i get: We do understand that you have not folded purposely but you were unable to act because of the disconnection problem. We are not saying that your connection is bad due to which you had theproblem. The connection sometimes goes up and down, probably during the tournament there might have been some server down some where between your computer and our servers. In future if such a thing happens, please check the Network Status while logging in to PartyPoker. If the connection says excellent and you still face problems, please contact us immediately via our Live Floorperson feature or on our toll free number 1-888-206-4659. We will attend your problem immediately and resolve your issue on the spot. We thank you and appreciate your patience and co-operation. If you have further questions and/or concerns, please contact us via our live chat feature or simply reply to this message. Sincerely, Angela Hunt, Customer Care Representative. So if you plan on playing beware of the customer service reply if its not ur fault you get disconnected. | ||

| Disconnections can happen at any point. If it is really Party's fault then I think they should compensate you, but it sounds like your ISP may have flaked out there and lost a chunk of connectivity to whatever country Party's servers are in. If that is the case, it really isn't their fault - though it is hard to say. In general, I assume that I'm going to be disconnected sometimes and factor that into the cost of playing - which is why I don't play online in really expensive tourneys (you won't see me touch anything over $50+5 though I'm thinking about buying into the Aruba $100+9 events on UB. I was really fortunate last week. I was playing in a $20+2 sit'n go and I got disconnected when doing pretty well against 7 remaining opponents. It took about 20 minutes before I could reconnect (my ISP seemed to be having some server trouble), but I was able to get back on before I was in a desperate place. If I had lost the tournament I would have harboured some sour grapes towards my ISP for it, but as it was I came in first and breathed a sigh of relief. But if you aren't prepared to risk disconnection, get a dedicated T1 line (and pay a fortune per month for it) with a guaranteed uptime. | ||

| So what happened? What did you want them to do, and what did they do? From your mail, I'm guessing you just got the prize money for 2nd place. If their server was still running fine, and other players were connected and acting on their hands, I'm not sure what they could do. They are correct that sometimes interruptions in internet service can happen that has nothing to do with them, and they can't be responsible for that. (I'm not saying this is the case, just that it could be). When I was disconnected during a tournament (because of their server), I received money equal to the equity of my tournament chips when the problems happened. But I'm pretty sure that was a problem due to their servers that affected all players, and they knew about it. But the only solutions I can see they can do is: 1) Refund your tournament entry fee 2) Pay you for the place you finished 3) Pay you for your equity in tournament chips Obviously in your circumstance 2 is better than 1. 3 might be better than both, but if the other player is still connected and acting on his hands, then I don't think they could fairly take money from him... | ||

| so what happenned is that somewhere in the whole country a server was down. I gather that to be a adequate explaination of being disconnected. Considering that i was able to log into other pokerrooms. Now don't get me wrong its fairly a low buyin tourney but thats not the big picture if you were playing multitable and this happened i would be ver frustrated. I played in teh pokerstars late sunday and 1358 players and i placed 162. First place was 101, 000 dollars. Now theres a big difference if a disconnect were to happen, but i played 5hours and 30min and was not disconnected. i don't think i was ever disconnected on paradise or pokerstars. for first. | ||

| I can see your frustration, but I don't see anything else Party could do really.... I guess they could pay both of you for first place; but if their servers really were running fine and the other players had good connections, then it would be hard to justify that. Anyway good luck in the future. | ||
