| The ONLY B&M option anywhere near me is a Casino on an Indian Reservation. Their Poker room has 15 tables and there is the standard rake. Has anyone ever played at one of these types of places or do you have any input? I've been there and it looks like a normal casino but who knows. | ||

| I wouldn't have any worries. They are regulated by the state gaming commision just like any other casino and are making money hand over fist playing it straight up. The closest casinos to me are all in Mississippi and those are all on Indian land. The one your talking about is most likely legit. | ||

| Tribal casinos are NOT controlled in any manner by local or federal laws....If you have a gripe....you are taking it to the tribal council and good luck there! That said, most are run with integrity! Roy Cooke on 10. Aug 2003 15:06 Robbins wrote: > The ONLY B&M option anywhere near me is a Casino on an Indian Reservation. | Every casino is a business whether run by the government, by a tribe, or by a private citizen. That said, the tribal casino is going to be run by people who know what they are doing. Are the crooked? Unlikely - cheating doesn't fit in with the business model of a cardroom that has 15 tables. It isn't prevalent anymore. Certainly be circumspect, but I think it is fine to go take a shot at it. What I would be much more wary of is a grungy speakeasy (think of Teddy KGB's place in Rounders) with a couple of tables and absolutely no connection with legal gaming. | ||

| Roy, Set me straight here. I live in TN and like to take a trip down to Tunica every now and again. As I understand it, all the Tunica casinos are on Indian land. I like to play at the Horseshoe (best poker room in town IMO) and they have a big sign saying that in accordance with Mississippi gaming commission regulations, the following rules apply.... etc. I presume this to mean that they are subject to gaming commission authority. Where am I off? Guru | ||

| It's the same in AZ. My understanding is basically this: in exchange for being allowed to run/govern their casinos, the Indian nations agree to work with their respective states to have state muscle as well as state regulation on their side to ensure the integrity of the gaming so that people feel better about playing there. I could be off, tho... -Moz "Your destiny chooses you." | ||

| I used to play at Tribal B&M's in Tucson, AZ. The only problem I had with them is occasionally getting an 8-fingered dealer that seemed like he had never held a deck of cards before. | ||
