| Hello, I was wondering if anyone might be able to suggest a good book on the "numbers of poker" -- i.e. something for a hobbyist who has read some basic books and is ready to get under the hood and learn the math of it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! | ||

| I saw a book being advertised on conjelco.com about the numbers of texas hold em that I thought about buying. I am sure that there are some good ones out there that I don't know about. good luck. I hope you get some good responses to this post | ||

| sidmando.....im not sure how advanced your game of poker is but let me suggest David Sklanskys first book "holdem poker". All his material is as good as it gets for learning the game. good luck. GRANT PITTMAN | ||

| May want to try this one!!This work is illustrated, packed with charts, tables, mathematics. A primer on calculating Hold'em probability for the layman: Part I teaches the player how to calculate probability for any situation for every stage of the game; every type of starting hand is tabulated in a logical, consistent, and comprehensive manner. NOT BEEN DONE PREVIOUSLY. The complete methodology and all the calculations are shown. The book is entertaining and informative with much new and original material. Discussions on suited cards vs unsuited cards, the running pair, and improbability are definitive answers on these subjects. No other work is devoted purely to this subject. Not a book for rank beginners!. 209 pages http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=13543&item=3543718649 | ||

| Sklansky's books are fairly math-heavy in terms of telling you when to bluff based on math, how to calculate your implied odds based on your reads, etc. | ||
