| I won a trip to vegas in october so I am making a list of places I want to play and I seem to remember something I saw on travel channel a while ago about blackjack. They said you can get a laminated card that has all the hands to hit, stand pat and double down on. Anyone know where they sell those. I was planning to stop at the Stardust and play some single deck black jack. Thanks Don | ||

| Hey Don- last time I was in Vegas, all the casino gift shops had them. I think they were about a buck apiece. -Moz "Yeah, I've made up your mind." | ||

| Good luck, but if you ask me why play a game without an edge? Learn to do some cardcounting (time consuming but not terribly hard) and you will be far more profitable. Enjoy your trip! | ||

| Stanford Wong's "Professional Blackjack" is the best book I know of on the subject. Don't bother with more than a level one counting system. It is easy to learn and easy to do with a little practice. Might as well take advantage of your "Unknown" and "Guest" status before they catch on to you and ask you to play some other casino game. | ||

| I would suggest that before you go you pick up a copy of Frank Scoblete's book "Best Blackjack" ... it has tables for the correct move in each situation, but much more. It talks about basic counting strategy and if you're going to play at all, I'd suggest you learn at least the very basics of counting and get on it with that. If you want to do some more advanced playing, then Standford Wong's book "Professional Blackjack" is a must. It has a complete set of tables for all games spread. | ||

| since we are way off topic I would suggest humble and coopers worlds best blackjack book. some twists and turns but over all a really good book on Black jack. you can get it at conjelco.com Also I would reccommend going to rec.gambling.blackjack and getting a good basic strategy chart from one of the sights linked there. The stratagy cards sold in casino gift shops and even the gamblers general store often have quite a few mistakes on them. also dont forget about the surrender option on the 6 deck games. dont play super fun 21 or any BJ game that offers only 6 to 5 for BJ. I dont think the stardust has a single deck game. but you can find them at Binions and at the Golden gate both downtown | ||

| Stardust has the abominable "Super Fun 21", as most casinos are being plagued by this virus (biblical enough?). Avoid it like a plague, you're much better off with their double deck tables. I too recommend Scoblete's book, it has good Basic Strategy charts for both single deck and multiple deck games. As far as card counting goes, the only way to make it really effective is to be able to vary your bets to match the counts, which is how the casinos tend to catch you, plus it requires a ton of concentration for a newbie. You're on vacation, have a good time. Learn the correct Basic Strategy and play it religiously, with a good double-deck game at the Stardust the house edge will be under 1%. And don't let the dealers or other players tell you you're doing something wrong, they often know not of what they speak. Eli on 15. | All casino gift shops have them. The casino's know you will think you are a black jack stud just by studying basic strategy. In reality, playing basic strategy only means you will lose money slower. But, in the long run, the casino is going to get it all anyway. So save the two bucks for the card and get the strategy from a web site. They are all the same. | ||
