| I saw the other day on Planet Pokers shop that the description for the set of clay chips you can buy goes something like this (paraphrased): "Excellent feel for easier chip shuffling" So my question is this. Is chip shuffling really so important that people are looking for chips that make it easier for them? I mean, what purpose does it serve, or is it just for the hell of it like it seems? Don't get me wrong, I wish I knew how to do it. And if I had the choice of a set of chips that were hard to do it with, vs one of identical quality that made it easy, the choice is simple, but I didn't realize it was such a big deal. Most of the time if I'm sitting at a B&M game, I want everyone to think that I have no idea what I'm doing, until my play demonstrates otherwise. But the situation might come up, depending on my competition that I wan't the exact opposite: for everyone to think I have abilities beyond my actual skills. So in that case, chip shuffling might give that appearance. Any tips on how to teach myself to do so? Thanks | ||

| According to Dutch Boyd chip tricks make people at the table fear you. Personally I think that it's bull, if you watch a lot of players when they do it they appear a little nervous. And as far as intimidating others that will probably only work with a well known pro against an amateur. | ||

| It really is fun! I am such a dork, I do it while I play poker online too! I find that it helps me to no go on tilt as easily because I have something to do when I keep folding my 27offsuit after I just got badly beat. The key is to only worry about the two bottom chips of the 2 separate stacks. You squeeze them together and just let them fall down. Use your thumb and index to control the left stack (using your right hand) and use your fourth and pinky to control the right stack. Start practicing with stacks or 3 and 3, then 3 and 4 and then 4 and 4 and then 4 and 5 and then 5 and 5. I wouldn't recommend doing more than 5 and 5. Right now, I can do 10 and 10 but it's pretty much pointless really. When playing at AC or Vegas, I never use more than 5 and 5. It's nice because you can just bet with the chips you're playing with and "reload" after each hand. Gives you something else to do during the drought! Thanks for reading! Have a great day! | I do little flippy things with my chips when I'm playing - and for a couple of reasons. For one thing I like to play a loose agressive style and so I dont' want a table image of a clueless tourist - I want a fearsome image and doing interesting things with my chips shows opponents that I've spent a lot of time with them. It is also nice to have the "click, click, click" to produce when somebody is staring you down. I find that it causes people to read things into what I'm doing and try to use that "tell" to do something other than the correct thing. Of course I click my cheques at anybody who is starting me down, so there's no real information to gain from it. Of course if my glasses are fogging up maybe they won't notice that. | ||

| I think for me it has become more of a habit than anything else. You learn how to do it.....it feels cool and you look cool (at least you think *that* anyway, LOL)......but it's not something that you need to do or incooperate into your game. | ||
