| You take a free play in the BB with 7s 4s against five other players. The flop comes Js Ts 3s. You bet out only 3 people call. The turn is 2s. What do you do? Do you bet hoping nobody else has a spade? Do you bet hoping that someone with a higher spade mucks in fear that you have a higher spade? Do you check and see how the betting plays out? Consider this same circumstance but now the spade hits the river. How about if the flop is As Ks 3s does this change things? Assume you are at a typical low limit game. I find it interesting that on many occasions in a multiway pot with four to a flush on the board nobody ends up having the flush. Do any of you have any stats as to how often somebody will have one of the suited cards in their hand in a situation like this? Thanks for your comments Mongi | ||

| In this situation, I check/call when the 4th spade falls. Definitely not a situation where you want to invite someone to raise. Everyone with a decent spade (or probably any spade, since it's a typical low-limit game) will call, so no point trying to bet representing a big spade to get another one to fold. They'll either call or raise. If everyone checks the turn, consider betting the river- any spade you're facing would also be a weak one and you aren't likely to get raised. Don't know the numbers, but based on experience there is a decent chance you have the only flush. No reason for the aggravation though, you have one of those hands that doesn't want to be raised. | Throw that trash away. When you pull a great flop like that out of the BB it is usually advisable to go for a checkraise since you'll be able to actually fold off some players if you make it 2 bets to them - though it depends on a lot. But when the fourth spade hits the board you can't call a single bet - no way. | ||

| Mongi, When three suited cards flop, anyone with an Ace, King or Queen will play the hand out to the river. I agree with stdioh that you should check/rasie the flop. This obviously puts you on a hand, but your best chance to win is early. This has happened to me quite often recently. Good luck out there. DJpoker | ||
