| I'm curious what people think the Value is for Taking Hands in the various Holdem positions. Say in a 1-2 game, I'm thinking the value in the Blinds is maybe one third of your blinds. That leaves a total value of $1 for the remaining 8 hands you take in a ten player ring game. How would you estimate that $1 gets distributed? I'm thinking maybe 35-25-16-9-6-4-3-2 roughly guestimating. Sometimes I take a bathroom break during my hands at the first two postions and have been wondering what it's costing me. According to the estimates above it would be about $.25 in a 5-10 game. About like using a pay restroom. lol | ||

| There is no set value. It depends on a tonne of factors such as table aggression, whom you have position on, etc, etc. For instance if every pot is being raised preflop then the value of the BB goes down since you're going to be folding most of them. If it is very passive preflop then you're going to get to see a lot of free flops there and the value will increase. Likewise if you are sitting immediately after a maniac, every hand goes up in value because you'll be able to get more out of the really premium hands. There's no easy way to assign values, but here's a good guideline. Go to the bathroom when they do a setup change or during your meal button. I try never to miss any hands that I've paid for simply because it adds up and when you do that you are really cutting into your edge. If you have to miss something miss your blinds and then post and surrender when you return. Either that or miss your UTG hand. The earlier position you are in the less likely you are to have cards worth playing. | ||
