Just do it!.....I was scared to death the first time I went into a public room........after a few sits .....It didn't phase me anymore......Play cautiously and smaller in your first few trips until you get more comfortable.

Enjoy the rush. I was terrified the first few times that I went to a Casino. I used to be able to feel the excitment growing in the pit of my stomach as I walked towards the poker room. I still do, but not so intense as it was at first. Savor those first few tirps the intimidation you feel will fade fast, enjoy it while it lasts. Play at limits you can afford and have fun!

I just sat in on a live ring game this past weekend. President Casion in St. Louis. Similar background as you, lots home games and winning a decent amount on the internet games.

I wandered around the tables for 10 minutes and was terrified to put my name on the list. so, I went to the cashier and bought $120 in chips (too many $5s) and walked back over to the tables. The pit boss glanced over at me and told me that he had a seat opening up. I sat down, lined up my chips and took it all in for a couple of hands. I tried not look too fishy, but it was pretty clear that I was new. About 10 hands into the session I hit the big slick, called, scored KKA on the flop, drew action for serveral more raises and ended up winning about $80 for my first live poker win. After that I calmed down and played "my" game. Unoftunately I live in a poker-deprived city so getting to a live table is a real treat for me.

Hitting that first win with Kings full of Aces was one of the most thrilling things that I have done in a long time.

Go...play...have fun...

Hey,

Everyone feels that way at first but after a few times you'll feel more confident. Just go in with the attitude that you have when you play in your home games and relax. If you start out at a real low limit, you'll find that for the most part, everyone's going to be pretty nice and are there to have some fun as well. Don't pass up a good opportunity for yourself especially if you can scope out a really good game. GO for it and good luck.
