Online Poker apparal in B&M?, Matt Steele, 4. Aug 2003 23:08

I am not a poster here (except trying to find an Southern AZ home game) but have been a daily reader of all the great posts here for the last 8 months and have learned alot. So here is my first post. I have actually been playing poker (LL HE mostly) for over 5 years in B&M casinos and online for the last year. I consider myself a fairly knowledgable player as I have a decent library as well (currently reading Ciaffone and Briar's Middle Limit Poker). I have made some $ but not much. At least I'm not donating! My question is I have a t-shirt and hat from an online site I enjoy playing at. What is anyone's opinion on wearing it to B&M cardrooms (I'm in AZ)? I know it happens alot as I see it frequently now but does anyone wear another B&M cardroom's apparal to a different one? I doubt it. I think I would be uncomfortable personally. So what is the difference with the online apparel being worn? Maybe this is a dumb question but for those who actually read this whole thing I appreciate your thoughts. Thanks.

Hey Matt,

I don't have any problems wearing a "Taj" hat while I'm playing at The Bellagio in Vegas, or wearing a shirt that says "Bellagio" on it in my local cardroom either! I don't worry about stuff like that,........if you like it, wear it! And if you're playin' solid poker, it shouldn't matter what you put on your back. If you feel comfortable with a shirt that's endorsed by an on-line poker site, than so be it. Be happy when you play....screw em' if they don't like your apparel! There's no rule stating that you can't wear those T-shirts, right? Enjoy yourself........

Hey Rusty-

I'm in the Phoenix area, and we have several casinos in fairly close proximity, so I see jackets and hats from other casinos all the time. I also hear players talk a lot about the action at other casinos. It really doesn't seem to be any big deal.

If you're out of town, just don't ask for a comped room at the Bellagio when you walk in their wearing Mirage's gear.

Hi. THis is silly. Mirage and Bellagio are both MGM Mirage properties. It is not all that easy to get a Belagioocomp, but the staff does not really care what you are wearing. They have many other things to worry about.

I wear one of several Binion's jackets (which I won) at the Bellagio all the time. I'd wear theirs if they gave me one!

BTW, the only drawback to wearing on line gear is people will ask you for your screen name. A lot. If you do not want to share it, make one up.

I see quite a few players from out of town wearing their home court card room colors. Usually it's a hat from when they went to Vegas, Mirage, Bellagio, whatever. Otherwise a jacket, perhaps from catching a Royal. Shirts with logo are also popular, but not seen as often as hats and jackets.
