| I was wondering what is the proper amount of bankroll to play the different limits. Right now I've built my bankroll from 50 to 220 at Partypoker in the last two weeks at the 1/2 game (6 max). How high should i get before i could give 2/4...3/6 and so on...a try? Also, at what limit do poeple stop playing like idiots? I would like to play a 10 person game but when you have 8 poeple calling i found i start loosing quickly Thanks | ||

| JC - In my opinion, you'll never find the game where there are no idiots. At least, when you do find it, you don't want to play in it!! Why would you? You don't move up based on your bankroll. You move up based on experience and skill, of which it sounds like you have little of either. (Skill is proven via longevity, not 2 weeks...and $200 isn't a bankroll) Slow your pace, build your bankroll by playing with 4 idiots, not 8, and enjoy the game before it becomes a grind. The worst thing that can happen to someone that posts like you just did is that your burnout hits at the exact time that you move up in limits. You won't be sharp and the $$ will get real big, real fast. Remember, there's always someone in that 3-6 game that is just waiting for a seat at a 20-40 table, so don't think for a second that your $200 buy-in scares anyone. I hope this scares you straight for at least another few months, but if not, good luck, and may your profits continue. Risky Business on 4. | I cannot remember where I saw this mentioned, either here or in Sklansky's Theory of Poker, but I believe it advised playing with at least 200x the big bet. So at 2/4 $800 and at 3/6 $1200. As for your second question I cannot be of any help since apparently, according to my wife anyway, I am an idiot. Hope this helped. Mr Bippy Some men play poker, others conquer Europe | ||

| You should have $600 just to play in the 1/2 game - and that's for a full table. Shorthanded you should really have a bigger bankroll. If you want to play in 2/4 you should have $1200 and 3/6 you should have $1800 ... you really should always have a roll of 300 BB. | ||
