| I know that in cyberspace, you have the option of mucking your losing hand once a winner has shown before you. What is law at your local B&M? Is it... a. Last person to initiate action must go first if nobody volunteers, and better hands show..........while losing hands have option. b. Any called hand has the right to be brought out by anybody still in the hand c. Any called hand has the right to be brought out by anybody at the table. d. OTHER??? | ||

| Risky, The person who bet is the one who is supposed to show their hand first. If you bet and I call you should show. Anyone playing at the table can ask to see any of the hands at showdown time if they called the bet. This is very rarely done at a BM. Don | ||

| Made me look dumb, but I tried to keep the dealer from turning up my cards after I had called, seen early position winner, and mucked......and another player asked to see my cards. Moral victory gained when I made the final table, and 'she' busted out before me. on 4. | Circus Circus only allows the winning player to request the mucked hand, but no one would dare do that, because you run the risk of losing the hand if the guy who mucked the hand made a mistake. I asked why CC does this. Apparantly, some idiot insisted one-night that he was going to see every mucked hand and they changed the rule. Bad decision by Circus Circus. Circus Circus only has one-blind (big blind $3)...Pretty good rule. When I was there last week, the BB Jackpot was approaching 50,000. Wow !!! | ||

| Best thing to do is aim for the muck when the dealer is not looking. Then he can't retrieve the hand... -Moz "Yeah, I've made up your mind." | ||

| I can see it now. Mozman spinning his cards sideways into the muck when the dealer is distracted ... :) The cards go into orbit in the casino, one jams the roulette wheel and the other sets of the fire alarm ... :) I just got back from vacation Moz, and in a humerous mood. flintsword | ||

| At our house games it's me and a bunch of friends and I'm the best player... when I win a hand with no showdown (they all fold) I muck... the thing that pisses me off A LOT is that most of the time the dealer will look at them anyways... i hate it. | ||

| At my B&M, if you made the last bet, AND there were callers, you must initiate showdown, all losing hands then can muck if they choose, however... Our B&M has a rule that the dealer must show any hand if any player asks to see it (as long as he can still find it, and it's not mixed into the muck), even if it's the winning hand and there were no callers. I don't like this. If I muck my hand, it's because I don't want the table to see. There are some players who will ask to see hands regularly. -Moz "Yeah, I've made up your mind." | ||

| Hey Risky, When playing hold-em.....whoever *initiated* the last bet/raise shows his cards first, and then the player who's sitting to the left of that player shows his hand, so on and so on.....the action starts with that player and then goes clockwise around the table. Many players don't like to show their hand first, especially if they were trying to steal, but the rule is, if you were the one who initiated the bet on the river OR you were the one who put in the last raise, then you must show first. But if you're in the hand and the aggressor shows down his hand and it beats your hand, your not entitled to turn over your hand unless someone asks to see it. If that player shows you a better hand, just toss your cards in the muck. Whenever a bet is called, anyone at the table, (whether they're in the hand or not) can ask to see the hands that were called. Not the best ettiquite to have at the table because players don't like to have to reveal their losers and it does often provoke bad feelings......but nonetheless, anyone still has the right to see your hand if you called the last bet. | ||

| I'm all straightened out now. I knew everything except the 'called a bet' rule. I guess since I was sitting in seat 1, I should have shoved them into the pile, accompanied by an "oops". on 4. | an interesting thing i've found at UB is that you can see any mucked hands in the hand history if they went to the showdown. Pretty handy for checking out oppositions mucked losers without them knowing... | ||

| Rules differ from place to place. At my B&M any player at the table can ask to see a mucked hand that made it to a showdown and they will be shown, but it is seen as being in poor taste. The players that do it all the time, for no good reason, soon realize that they are not liked. As for the internet, I woudl imagine that there is variance there, but on UB, for instance, you can see all hands mucked in this way by reading the hand history. | ||
