| My poker experience is almost entirley online with an odd tunica trip now and again. Also, I had always played low limit seven card stud until I decided to learn HE this year (Good decision). Anyway, on to my question. I'm not sure I understand some of the tems used to describe limits. I've seen some limits like 1-4-8-8. My guess is that this means the limits are $1 pre-flop, $4 on the flop, and $8 for the turn and river each. Am I right? If so, why do a structure like that as opposed to 2/4 or 4/8? Also, what exactly do you mean by the term spread limit? Again, I'm pretty sure I know, but I just want to be sure. I assume that spread limit is a $1-$5 game in which you can bet any amount between $1and $5 in any round. In my trips to the real casino's I always played $1-$5 stud, which worked exactly as I described. If I'm right, do players like the set structure better or would you prefer a spread limit? It seems that the overwhelming favorite is set structure. Why do you think that is? | ||

| Spread limit means NOT a fixed limit....In 10-20, unless you are going all in you can only bet $10 or $20 depending on what street you are on. If it is $2-$10 spread limit you can bet anywhere from $2 to $10! Generally in $1-4-8-8 you can raise up to $4 before the flop....The pre-flop betting plays like spread limits! Roy Cooke on 4. | hi, ok, to your qquestion, spread limit is a temr that's also used for HE. 1-4-8-8 is kind of a spread-limit at which the player can bet 1-4 before and on the flop but after the flop the limit is 1-8 spread limit. The blinds for this game usually are 1 and 2. I hope this helped you. Good luck. | ||
