The most costly King you have ever seen, spawgan, 3. Aug 2003 01:28

At the casino I just left there is a bad beat jackpot up to 63K tonight. House rules say has to be aces full and both cards in your hand must play. BB has 10-Qsuited, one player had A-A and raised, so the BB called. Flop comes A-t-t. Bet, raise call. Turn come the case t. So now you have the Jackpot situation, Aces Full beat by 4 of a kind. River comes the Kd and the Q in the BB's hand doesn't play and the jackpot was lost. That king cost the Pocket aces about 32K, the 10s 16K and the rest of the table about 3.5K a piece. The guy with the pocket aces just sat there stunned.

Hey Spawgan. This is in response to both of your posts. First, congratulations on the $250 win. I had a similar session tonight :)

Secondly, the jackpot hand was over on the flop. The A-T-T flop rendered the Q no good. Still sounds like a great hand. You really feel for the pocket aces cuz he was probably out 60-100 bucks if they kept pumping it up. Keep up the good playing. Good luck, DJpoker

your right, i was just going by what the manager said when he came over to let everyone know. btw, they had just changed the rules on the jackpots about a month ago or the table would have been paid.

Hey spaw,
Yeah I think they changed the jackpot ruls everywhere because there were too many payouts LOL. At our B&M someone hit 17k just the other day. Good luck hitting one. Djpoker

Hey spawgan-

I had a similar situation last week at my B&M. Out Bad Beat Jackpot was up to $14k, and it pays 1/2 to the hand-loser (guy that got beat), 1/4 to the winner, and 1/4 to the remainder of the table. Rules are Aces full of Tens or better, beat by four of a kind or better, both cards must play.

I have A7s in the BB. No raises. Flop comes AAA, turn comes 7 and river comes 6; so I know I did my share. The other guy turns over pocket 9s. He really didn't believe I had the case Ace, and thought he had me beat. Somehow he picked up the 7 in my hand, and put me on Aces full of 7s. Needless to say, no jackpot... his 9s were not big enough... lots of fun tho...

Yes, it is time. :)

Sorry 4, been a little busy and distracted lately... we are celebrating my parents 50th Anniversary this week, and I have all of my NY/CT family in town. In addition, I landed a new job this week (almost doubled my salary!) so my mind has been elsewhere. But I will try to come up with something ASAP! :)

Thank you for me, and thank you for them! I will pass it on.

Yeah, 50 years is a long time... I think they're taking this whole 'marriage' thing a little seriously... ;)

First time ever playing with a Jackpot at Harrah's in East Chicago. Jackpot is $22K - Aces full of Tens beaten, both cards must play.

I have AK on the button and raise 2 limpers.
Flop comes AKT.
MP player bets, I raise, he calls.
Turn comes A
MP checks, I bet, he raises, as I'm 3-betting we look at each other and I KNOW he has AT. And he knows I know he has AT. After a pause a good part of the table figures out that we're about to hit this jackpot.
River K (the case King we find out later)

Chop it up. No jackpot.

I still think Patti Beadles had a better bad jackpot story than that. She was the one that Andy Glazer doubled through in the WSOP with his TT against her KK this last time.

She was playing in a side game and flopped quads. Her opponent played her with his overpair and hit running quads on the turn and river to beat her. Because it was a sidegame from a tournament, it was the only table in the casino that didn't have a bad beat jackpot drop. IIRC, the jackpot was something like $70,000.

That's got to hurt a lot. I think I would go for a *LONG* walk if that happened to me.
