| While Playing in some tournaments online next to all the tables I saw hands per hour... They ranged from 40 to 70 about. I know online they deal hands much quicker than live... How much quicker is this than live games... and why? Shuffling probably takes a little while and dealing is slower right? I'm just new and curious ;) | ||

| It is so much faster on-line. A "real" dealer takes about 30 seconds to just shuffle the cards, then he also has to do many other time consuming things like, taking all the antes/blinds/bets and put them into the pot......he has to deal the cards as well.......he has to take all the mucked hands and place them in the muck..........if it's a time game, then he'll have to collect all the time from each player, count it, make sure it's all there........and he also is going to be faced with just your ordinary interuptions, like, if he notices a boxed card or a ripped card.......or like players stopping the game to ask a question, or if there needs to be a ruling from a floorman, then the game gets held up even more. All those things and *more* add up to the dealer getting out less hands, and it's just not humanly possible for a person to deal as fast as a generated card shuffler. When a pot is split say in an Omaha game, it's split immediately within 2 seconds when you play on-line; but when you play the game "live", it can take 10 times longer than that and if the dealer is not knowlegable of the game, then forget it! And players will slow up a game as well, and when you play on-line, there's no questions......the pot is pushed to the winning player, there are no mistakes, and bing, bang, boom, it's all done! I'll give you on average how many hands get dealt out in an Omaha game when playing on-line vs. "live". In a live game, the average dealer will get out only one round of hands, (10 total for a half hour), where as on-line, you can expect to get about 3 to 4 times as many hands in the same time period, and you can get about 15-20 hands per half hour in a live hold-em game but on-line you'll get three and up to four times as many. | ||

| In a fast moving limit hold'em game a good dealer will get out 35 hand per hour....Of course , many are not good. In other areas of the country with different rules the average can go as low as 25!
