What is keeping online sites from putting a computer generated player in a seat.. A computer shield if you will?
Is there any governing body overseeing online poker. What keeps them from rigging the game?
I have seen things from repeat hands to unbelievable bad beats on line. I have been playing poker for 30 yrs and have seen things online that I HAVE NEVER SEEN IN A CASINO.

I know a couple of guys who do play as props for the on-line poker sites but of coarse they just play their regular good game of poker and everything is on the up and up, but I never thought of there being a computer shield that was set up by the site itself. Anythings possible I guess. That's why live poker games are so much better to play in.....you can feel more at ease and will have less doubts of any possible wrong doing. But we all play on-line because it's fun, fast and convenient!

Assuming Wilson software is the current state of the art for a computer player, I would be glad to play against a cyber-opponent. If the code was written to look ahead to see what the board will be, then obviously even an unsophisticated program would become unbeatable. What stops them is the probability that this would become publicly known, and thereby dry up their existing income from rakes.

The playing ability of current programs is not good enough to beat players with good poker knowledge....There is currently programmers designing artificial intelligence programs similar to the chess programs......So far they can only play heads-up and are getting beaten by good players......Ring games are much harder to program....To my knowledge there is nothing out there that a good player would not beat.

The owners of Interenet sites could not set these things up without many other people knowing of them.....With the rake they make and the fact that any disclosure would make their site worthless, it would be stupid for a site owner to deal the deck anything other than honestly!

I really hope that this is the reality. I have been playing at paradisepoker for quite a long time until a friend of mine told me about the tremendous new action at partypoker. also, other sites offer great promotions all the time and make it more exciting to jump to their site and play, so it brought me a little bit away from paradise. And although I know we shouldn't mention those site names, I have had so many unbelievabable river beats that sometimes I had the strange feeling that the outcome of the hand could have been defined from the get-go. I don't know if this is already possible, but if you get AA or KK, people usually stay in till the river, and if the turn and river produces flush and straight's all the time, then you thinksomething's weird. It's just my experience I had lately, and since I try out other sites, I can say that my results have slightly improved now.

I also would prefer to play against Wilson Software opponents than real ones. The computer is more predictable than live players. There is no accounting for a bad beat from lunacy.

I also think the reputable sites know it would be insane to undertake such a strategy. The small amount of money they could win from the strategy would justify their whole economic model if it was found out.

Sorry for any offense in my "play on words". No I don't see ghosts, but I have been around long enough to know when something can be fixed. I am not saying that it is fixed, just addressing the facts. What do you see when you look in the mirror?

Nothing...these games are all in foreign countries. If they can't keep child porno off the net what makes you think that they can keep gambling clean? The only thing that keeps them honest is the fact that they make money hand over fist and that if they were shown to be cheating they would lose it all PDQ. That's why I'll only play on big established sites that make too much money honestly for it to be worth cheating little old me in my low limit games.
