| good showing tonight in the tourney. about 25 hands into the final table i made the nut flush on the turn and someone called my all-in re-raise with two pair and ended up making me a boat to ride off in. i would have had 100,000 and a free ticket to top 3 were it not for that crappy beat.... oh well. such is poker :) | ||

| Heheh...I don't think I'm a good enough player to give lessons. I think I'd be hit by a lightning bolt or some other such poetic justice if I tried to instruct you in that. But if you start posting some Omaha questions here I woudn't mind answering them and I'm sure you'd get a lot of response from 4 POKER and others too. Playing o/8 is simple if you take a few things into account. You're playing with the nuts - nut high and nut low. Don't call bets with the second nuts and don't draw to the second nuts. You're also playing for the whole pot. If you're getting bet pot and you hold a nut low with no shot at the high, be really careful about playing there - chances are good you'll only get a quarter of the pot. Don't play hands at all that lend themselves to only taking half the pot. For instance TJQK is a fine hand to play since if you hit your hand there won't be a low. 5678 is a terrible hand to play since if you make the nut high there will certainly be a low and you won't be winning it either. Playing only straight cards is dangerous enough as it is since you have to fear flushes and fear the board pairing. Actually, the best way to learn is to sit at a $0.01-$0.02 pot limit O8 game on UB and fish around there. The players are so terrible that if you try to play well you can't help but make money. Learn it, move up to the .10-.25 .... then to the .25 - .50 ... play some tourneys. Oh, and Ciaffone wrote a decent omaha book too. Read that if you're looking for something. Though I must admit I've only leafed through it - not given it a proper reading. | ||
