| Drove down with a couple friends to AC yesterday to check out the new Borgata. Spent the first half hour walking around the casino before heading downstairs to the poker room. For a Thursday night neither the casino nor the poker room were that crowded. At around 7:00 I decided to sit in a 6/12 HE game. They had about 20-25 full tables going, about half stud and half hold 'em. I'm not a stud player at all so I didn't pay much attention to the limits being spread, but I can tell you there were about four 1/2 and 2/4 tables, three 3/6 and 6/12 tables, two 10/20 tables and a single 15/30 game. My session lasted a little over 3 hours and I ended the night +200 and change. No good stories to tell really other than there was this drunk middle-aged Asian woman at the table who just threw her chips away like they were nothing. One hand I was heads up against her, she called my pre-flop raise, I had AQs and the board was A-A-K-x-x, my hand held up and she called me down, ultimately showing me K-5o like I had just put a bad beat on her or something. As for the card room itself, I was quite impressed with the spread out although it appears a bit smaller than the Taj. It's clean, smoke-free and there were plenty of cocktail waitresses to go around. Keep in mind that it was a Thursday night and I'm sure there will be a larger crowd there for the weekend. If you're a casino enthusiast the place is outright gorgeous, and I would definitely recommend that anyone headed to AC in the near future check it out. All of the slot machines are coinless. If you want to cash out you get a receipt which can be redeemed for cash or inserted into another machine. As a result, it's a bit quieter than a normal casino, that is, you don't hear coins clanging all over the place. On a funny note, I noticed that in the elevators from the parking garage they have "good luck" in several different languages engraved in the marble blocks, yet the Italian expression is spelled wrong - "Bouna fortuna" instead of "Buona fortuna," a mild slip for a casino with a central Italian theme. Maybe 4 POKER can use his AC influence to have the problem corrected!!! - Giocatore | ||

| Hey Gio, Thanks for the report. I'm looking foward to seeing The Borgata. My family said it was beautiful as well.....kinda like a top notch Vegas casino. It may take some time though before they start to get a really good turnout in their poker room...at least I hope they do. I know that the PLHE game has moved from the Trop to The Borgata. 'Getting tired of the Trop and The Taj all the time....I want to play somewhere different when I return. But because they're not located directly on the main drag with all the other casinos, it may hurt business just a bit......poker players tend to be quite lazy sometimes! They will need to attract some of the players from the Taj...especially the higher limit players.....people like to be where the action is and right now it's still at The Taj. Donald Trump was pretty clever when he decided to hold his satellites in Sept. He's never done that before, it's always been in the winter months....but he just had to try and take business away from The Borgata, which is fine from his perspective obviously! And what's the deal with them spelling Buona fortuna incorrectly? LOL! I doubt any of my influence or should I say lackthereof would even matter!! You should go back there and tell them to fix it, that's what I think! Ciao! | ||

You would think that for all the money they spent on that place that they could at least get the spelling right, in Italian no less for an Italian-themed casino!!! LOL!!!!! I can't help but notice those things..... | ||

| Hey Gio, Just got off the phone with a customer care rep. at The Borgata and told her that there was a misprint in one of their marble blocks. I fudged the truth a little bit by saying that "I" saw it myself, (didn't want to sound TOO foolish, LOL)........but she thanked me sincerely and told me that she was going to call the facilities dept. right away so they can fix it! Wahooo! I can't believe I just called them, I felt a little silly but ANYTHING for my Italian buddy Gio! I don't park in self park but I will definitely have to check it out when I return to make sure they fixed it! LOL! BTW, thier toll free # is 1-866-692-6742! | ||
