Question about WSOP, AK, 29. Jul 2003 21:10

I am new to this forum and just recently got into Texas Hold'em. I was watching the World Series of Poker last night and I saw a hand where three tens beat three kings. How is this possible?

It is not! A better hand than three Kings must have been made by the hand that held three tens!

The player with AK would make the best 5 card hand possible, in this case K K K A T, or 3 of a kind kings.

The player with TT would do likewise, and end up with T T T K K, or a full house, tens full of kings.

Thanks. I feel kind of stupid now. Didn't realize that the one fella had a full house and I kept thinking that maybe community cards were worth less. Anyway, thanks again for explaining.

If you want a quick once over of the rules go to:

http://www.ultimatebet.com/games/texas_holdem.html

or any online poker site ( planetpoker , paradisepoker or partypoker) as they all have the rules, better than that download the software and play in the play money games, then deposit $500 and sit down at my table :-)

I believe this is the hand that eliminated Chuc Huang....Actually Chuc had QJ and Dan Harrington had 10 10....board showed J 10 ? J ? so 10's full beat 3 Jacks.

It was not the hand with Chuc Huang. It involved Bryan Watkins the San Francisco cop. He made the Tens full of Kings full house and knocked out the player with 3 Kings. I can't remember who it was he knocked out.

I think the cop was put all in and called. He then got a ten on the river, making him 10's full of kings and the other player only had trip Kings.

I don't think the guy with trip kings was out of the tourney, as I think he had a chip lead when the play happened. The cop would have been out if he didn't hit his two outer on the river...

There was a pair of K's on the board, along with a T. So the player with the two TT's in his hand actually had a full house, which beats three K's.

It was a full house. The winning player held pocket TT, the board had a T and KK (or the other way around).
