| I was playing 4-8 recently when a group of friends joined the game, all at the same table. What they did to the game was incredibly frustrating and I'm not sure it wasn't collusion. They immediately began pounding on the other players in the game. If someone called or raised, they made sure it was capped when it got back around. Several times I had high pocket pairs (KK, QQ) during these poundings, and many bets later one of them would invariably turn over something unbelievable and not something I'd have capped the betting with (and take a huge pot). I made a set on the flop once, it got capped and I was quite happy. No straight or flush possiblity; it looked good. I bet on the turn and flop, only to be raised. He beat me with a 7-high backdoor flush, no other pair or draw! I love maniacs normally, they get lucky but wind up rebuying fairly quickly. But these 4 guys were unbelievable. I think they were quite intentionally swinging wildly and divvying the profits later. The dealer said they were there every night and usually left with a lot of chips. Was this collusion? Should I have called for a floorperson? I saw no overt signalling, but if one got involved, they all did and it was soon capped. And yes, I realize I should have left the table sooner, but it was the only game at that hour of the morning. It might also be worth noting this was in a Mississippi casino. In Vegas or LA I think a floorperson would have watching this from the get-go. What would you have done? | ||

| I see this every so often at my B&M, too. It really sucks, but when I see these guys coming, I just rack my chips and put myself on the list for a new table. If my name comes up for the table I just left, then I have them roll me back to the bottom of the list. Without any evidence of actual collusion, I can't really complain. I have talked to one of the floor people, and he said he's been watching them for some time, looking for any betting patterns that he can really point to and say there is collusion, but they mix it up too well... they'll slip up eventually, though. -Moz "I smoke 'cause I'm hoping for an early death, and I need to cling to something." | ||

| Yup. That's textbook cheating. You bet out and I raise, then my buddies 3-bet and cap to try to get you to fold. I wouldn't play in that game and I would report them to the cardroom. | ||

| Hey maroon, If the dealer told you that they are there all the time and do the same thing, then you can bet it is collusion and the B&M doesn't care. Like Moz said, switch tables. Get your chips ready to move and only play AA, KK, AK. The good thing about these guys is if you can catch them, you will make a huge payday. This same thing happened to me in southern cali. I don't know that it was total collusion, but 3 players 3 or 4 bet every time. I just sat pat and nailed them twice with AA and AQ suited. It does make the game more challenging and even frustrating, but I look at it as a possible goldmine. If you only play Premium hands (ie Group 1 and some Group 2 hands) you have a great chance. By the way, the first time this happened to me I posted here and got some great advice. I think if you search for a thread about maniac raisers you will get some good advice. Good luck, DJpoker | ||
